حَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ حَدَّثَنَا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ بُرْقَانَ عَنْ شَدَّادٍ مَوْلَى عِيَاضِ بْنِ عَامِرٍ عَنْ بِلَالٍأَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ لَهُ لَا تُؤَذِّنْ حَتَّى يَسْتَبِينَ لَكَ الْفَجْرُ هَكَذَا وَمَدَّ يَدَيْهِ عَرْضًاقَالَ أَبُو دَاوُد شَدَّادٌ مَوْلَى عِيَاضٍ لَمْ يُدْرِكْ بِلَالًا

Narrated to us [Zuhair bin Harb], narrated to us [Waki'], narrated to us [Ja'far bin Burqan] from [Shaddad, freed slave of 'Iyadh bin Amir] from [Bilal], that the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, said to him, 'Do not call the adhan until dawn is clear like this,' spreading his hands sideways. Abu Dawud said: Shaddad, freed slave of 'Iyadh, did not meet Bilal.
