حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ يَحْيَى أَبُو زَكَرِيَّاءَ أَخْبَرَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ بِلَالٍ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ الْقَاسِمَ بْنَ مُحَمَّدٍ قَالَ قَالَتْ عَائِشَةُوَا رَأْسَاهْ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ذَاكِ لَوْ كَانَ وَأَنَا حَيٌّ فَأَسْتَغْفِرَ لَكِ وَأَدْعُوَ لَكِ فَقَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ وَا ثُكْلِيَاهْ وَاللَّهِ إِنِّي لَأَظُنُّكَ تُحِبُّ مَوْتِي وَلَوْ كَانَ ذَاكَ لَظَلِلْتَ آخِرَ يَوْمِكَ مُعَرِّسًا بِبَعْضِ أَزْوَاجِكَ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَلْ أَنَا وَا رَأْسَاهْ لَقَدْ هَمَمْتُ أَوْ أَرَدْتُ أَنْ أُرْسِلَ إِلَى أَبِي بَكْرٍ وَابْنِهِ وَأَعْهَدَ أَنْ يَقُولَ الْقَائِلُونَ أَوْ يَتَمَنَّى الْمُتَمَنُّونَ ثُمَّ قُلْتُ يَأْبَى اللَّهُ وَيَدْفَعُ الْمُؤْمِنُونَ أَوْ يَدْفَعُ اللَّهُ وَيَأْبَى الْمُؤْمِنُونَ

"Yahya bin Yahya Abu Zakariya narrated to us, Sulaiman bin Bilal informed us from Yahya bin Sa'id, who said: I heard Al Qasim bin Muhammad say that Aisyah said: Oh, my head aches. The Prophet, peace be upon him, said: If you died while I was alive, I would seek forgiveness and pray for you. Aisyah said: Alas, my loss! I think you desire my death. If that happened, you’d spend your last day with another wife. The Prophet, peace be upon him, said: Rather, I say, oh, my head aches. I intended to send for Abu Bakr and his son to appoint a successor, lest some say or wish otherwise. Then I said: Allah refuses, and the believers reject, or Allah rejects, and the believers refuse.
