Narrated to us Muhammad bin Al Mutsanna narrated to us Abu Dawud narrated to us Syu'bah. Likewise narrated from another chain, and narrated to us Ibnu Basysyar narrated to us Abdurrahman and Abu Dawud they both said narrated to us Syu'bah from Amru bin Murrah he said I heard Sa'd bin Ubaidah narrate from Al Barra' bin Azib that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, instructed someone when intending to sleep, to say: "ALLOOHUMMA ASLAMTU NAFSII ILAIKA, WAWAJJAHTU WAJHII ILAIKA, WA-ALJA'TU ZHOHRII ILAIKA, WAFAWWADHTU AMRII ILAIKA ROGHBATAN WAROHBATAN ILAIKA, LAA MALJA'A WALAA MANJAA MINKA ILLAA ILAIKA, AAMANTU BIKITAABIKALLADZII ANZALTA WABIROSUULIKALLADZII ARSALTA (O Allah, my Lord, I surrender myself to You, I direct my face to You, I rely on You, I entrust my affairs to You with hope and fear, for there is no refuge or safety from Your punishment except by seeking refuge in You. I believe in Your Book which You have revealed and in Your Messenger whom You have sent)." If he dies that night, he dies in a state of purity (fitrah). However, Ibnu Basyar in his Hadith did not mention the phrase 'at night.' Narrated to us Yahya bin Yahya informed us Abul Ahwash from Abu Ishaq from Al Barra' bin Azib he said The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said to someone: O so-and-so, when you intend to sleep - as in the Hadith of Amru bin Murrah - but he used the phrase and I believe in Your Prophet whom You have sent.' If you die that night, you die in a state of purity (fitrah). 'And if you wake up again in the morning, you have obtained goodness.' Narrated to us Ibnu Al Mutsanna and Ibnu Basysyar they both said narrated to us Muhammad bin Ja'far narrated to us Syu'bah from Abu Ishaq that he heard Al Barra' bin Azib say The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, instructed someone, - with a similar Hadith - but he did not mention the phrase 'And if you wake up again in the morning, you have obtained goodness.'
