Imam Tirmidzi : 3023

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ أَخْبَرَنَا نَافِعٌ عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ قَالَجَاءَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أُبَيٍّ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حِينَ مَاتَ أَبُوهُ فَقَالَ أَعْطِنِي قَمِيصَكَ أُكَفِّنْهُ فِيهِ وَصَلِّ عَلَيْهِ وَاسْتَغْفِرْ لَهُ فَأَعْطَاهُ قَمِيصَهُ وَقَالَ إِذَا فَرَغْتُمْ فَآذِنُونِي فَلَمَّا أَرَادَ أَنْ يُصَلِّيَ جَذَبَهُ عُمَرُ وَقَالَ أَلَيْسَ قَدْ نَهَى اللَّهُ أَنْ تُصَلِّيَ عَلَى الْمُنَافِقِينَ فَقَالَ أَنَا بَيْنَ خِيرَتَيْنِ{ اسْتَغْفِرْ لَهُمْ أَوْ لَا تَسْتَغْفِرْ لَهُمْ }فَصَلَّى عَلَيْهِ فَأَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ{ وَلَا تُصَلِّ عَلَى أَحَدٍ مِنْهُمْ مَاتَ أَبَدًا وَلَا تَقُمْ عَلَى قَبْرِهِ }فَتَرَكَ الصَّلَاةَ عَلَيْهِمْقَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ

Narrated to us [Muhammad bin Basyar] has told us [Yahya bin Sa'id] has told us [Ubaidullah] has told us [Nafi'] from [Ibn Umar] said: Abdullah bin Abdullah bin Ubai came to the Prophetpeace be upon him on the day of his death his father came to the Prophetpeace be upon him and said: Will your majesty give you clothes then I will make a shroud for him, pray for him and ask for forgiveness for him? He gave me his clothes and said: "When you have finished, tell me!" When he wanted to pray for him, Umar stopped him, saying: Didn't Allah forbid you to pray for hypocrites? then he answered: "I am between two choices: 'you ask for forgiveness or you do not ask for forgiveness for them,' he prayed then Allah revealed "And never worship (the body of) a dead person among them, and do not stand (pray) at his grave." (At Taubah: 84) Abu Isa said that This hadith is hasan sahih .
