Imam Tirmidzi : 1551

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ رَافِعٍ حَدَّثَنَا زَيْدُ بْنُ حُبَابٍ حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ عَنْ كَثِيرِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ عَنْ الْقَاسِمِ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ عَنْ عَدِيِّ بْنِ حَاتِمٍ الطَّائِيِّأَنَّهُ سَأَلَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَيُّ الصَّدَقَةِ أَفْضَلُ قَالَ خِدْمَةُ عَبْدٍ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ أَوْ ظِلُّ فُسْطَاطٍ أَوْ طَرُوقَةُ فَحْلٍ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِقَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى وَقَدْ رُوِيَ عَنْ مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنِ صَالِحٍ هَذَا الْحَدِيثُ مُرْسَلًا وَخُولِفَ زَيْدٌ فِي بَعْضِ إِسْنَادِهِ

Narrated to us [Muhammad bin Rafi'] said, narrated to us [Zaid bin Hubab] said, narrated to us [Mu'awiyah bin Shalih] from [Katsir Ibnul Harits] from [Al Qasim bin 'Abdurrahman] from [Adi bin Hatim Ath Tha`i] that he asked the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him: 'Which charity is the most superior?' He replied: 'Supporting a slave for jihad in the way of Allah, or setting up a tent for a mujahid to take shelter, or giving a camel in the way of Allah.' Abu Isa said: 'This hadith has been narrated from Mu'awiyah bin Shalih as mursal.' And Zaid is still disputed in some of his chains.
