Narrated to us [Hannad] said, narrated to us [Abul Ahwash] from [Sa'id bin Masruq] from [Abayah bin Rifa'ah] from [his father] from his grandfather [Rafi' bin Khadij], he said: 'We were with the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, on a journey. People rushed to seize the spoils quickly, and they began cooking (animals from the spoils). Meanwhile, the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, was still behind with the rest of the group. When he passed by those who were cooking, he ordered them to discard the food, and they did so. Afterward, he distributed the spoils and equated one camel to ten goats.' Abu Isa said: '[Sufyan At Tsauri] narrated from [his father], from [Abayah], from his grandfather [Rafi' bin Khadij], but in that hadith, he did not mention from his father." [Mahmud bin Ghailan] narrated this to us, saying: [Waki'] narrated to us from [Sufyan], and this is more sahih. Abayah bin Rifa'ah heard from his grandfather, Rafi' bin Khadij.' He said: 'In this matter, there are also hadiths from Tsa'labah bin Al Hakam, Anas, Abu Raihanah, Abu Darda, 'Abdurrahman bin Samurah, Zaid bin Khalid, Jabir, Abu Hurairah, and Abu Ayyub.'"
