Manusia ibarat barang tambang; yang terbaik di masa jahiliah adalah yang terbaik pula dalam Islam apabila mereka memahami agama
Imam Darimi : 225حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الْقَطَّانُ عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ سَعِيدَ بْنَ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ قِيلَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَيُّ النَّاسِ أَكْرَمُ قَالَ أَتْقَاهُمْ قَالُوا لَيْسَ عَنْ هَذَا نَسْأَلُكَ قَالَ فَيُوسُفُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ نَبِيُّ اللَّهِ ابْنُ نَبِيِّ اللَّهِ ابْنِ خَلِيلِ اللَّهِ قَالُوا لَيْسَ عَنْ هَذَا نَسْأَلُكَ قَالَ فَعَنْ مَعَادِنِ الْعَرَبِ تَسْأَلُونِي خِيَارُهُمْ فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ خِيَارُهُمْ فِي الْإِسْلَامِ إِذَا فَقُهُوا
Narrated to us [Ya'qub bin Ibrahim] Narrated to us [Yahya bin Sa'id Al Qatthan] from [Ubaidullah] he said: I once heard [Sa'id bin Abu Sa'id] tell from [his father] from [Abu Hurairah] May Allah be pleased with him said: "It was said, O The messenger of Allah Peace be upon him, Who is the most noble person?, he answered: 'the most noble person devout among them', they asked again: 'That's not what we meant', then he answered: 'Yusuf bin Ya'qub the Prophet and a son of the Prophet and the son of Allah's beloved ('alaihissalam), they said again: 'That's not what we asked, he asked: 'What do you mean among the Arabs' he continued: 'The best in the era of ignorance were the best in Islam if they studied religion'.
