Narrated to us [Ahmad bin Abdah Adh Dhabbi] and [Humaid bin Mas'adah], both said: narrated to us [Sulaim bin Akhdhar] from [Ubaidullah bin Umar] from [Nafi'] from [Ibnu Umar], he said: 'The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, distributed spoils such that a cavalryman received two shares and a foot soldier received one share.' Narrated to us [Muhammad bin Basysyar] said, narrated to us ['Abdurrahman bin Mahdi] from [Sulaim bin Akhdhar] as in the hadith. In this matter, there are similar hadiths from Mujami' bin Jariyah, Ibnu Abbas, and Ibnu Abu Amrah from his father. The hadith of Ibnu Umar is hasan sahih. This hadith is a guiding practice according to the scholars from the companions of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and others. This is the opinion of Sufyan bin Ats Tsauri, Al Auza'i, Malik bin Anas, Ibnul Mubarak, Syafi'i, Ahmad, and Ishaq. They say: 'A cavalryman receives three shares one for himself and two for his horse. A foot soldier receives one share.'
