Narrated to us [Ibnu Abu Umar], narrated to us [Sufyan] from [Ibnu Ajlan] from [Sa'id Al Maqburi] from [Abu Syuraih Al Ka'bi] that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: 'Hospitality is for three days, and the legal duration of hospitality is a day and a night. What is spent on him after that is charity. It is not permissible for him to stay in a house until he burdens the host.' A similar hadith was narrated from Aisyah and Abu Hurairah. [Malik bin Anas] and [Al Laits bin Sa'd] narrated it from [Sa'id Al Maqburi]. Abu Isa said: This is a hasan sahih hadith. Abu Syuraih is Al Ka'bi Al 'Adawi, his name is Khuwailid bin Amr. According to him, the meaning of his saying 'Laa Yatswi' is that the guest should not stay until he burdens the host. Al Haraj means difficulty or hardship. The saying 'Hatta Yuhrijahu' means until he causes him difficulty.
