Narrated to us [Yusuf bin Isa], narrated to us [Waki'] narrated to us [Al Mas'udi] from [Jami' bin Shaddad Abu Sahrah] from [Abdurrahman bin Yazid], he said: 'When [Abdullah] reached the Jamrah Aqabah, he entered the valley and faced the Ka'bah Richt. He began throwing the jamrah from above his right temple, throwing seven pebbles and saying takbir with each pebble. Then he said: By Allah, besides Whom there is no god, from here the one upon whom Surah Al-Baqarah was revealed threw the jamrah.' Narrated to us [Hannad], narrated to us [Waki'] from [Al Mas'udi] with the same chain as the above hadith. Abu Isa At Tirmidzi said: 'A similar hadith is narrated from Al Fadl bin Abbas, Ibn Abbas, Ibn Umar, and Jabir.' Abu 'Isa said: 'The hadith of Ibn Mas'ud is hasan sahih and is practiced by the scholars. They hold that a man should throw the jamrah from the bottom of the valley with seven pebbles, saying takbir with each pebble. Some scholars allow throwing from anywhere he can if it is not possible from the bottom of the valley, even if not at the bottom.'"
