Orang Arab jahiliyah thawaf dalam keadaan telanjang kecuali Al-Hums (orang quraisy dan turunannya)
Imam Muslim : 2141و حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو كُرَيْبٍ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ كَانَتْ الْعَرَبُ تَطُوفُ بِالْبَيْتِ عُرَاةً إِلَّا الْحُمْسَ وَالْحُمْسُ قُرَيْشٌ وَمَا وَلَدَتْ كَانُوا يَطُوفُونَ عُرَاةً إِلَّا أَنْ تُعْطِيَهُمْ الْحُمْسُ ثِيَابًا فَيُعْطِي الرِّجَالُ الرِّجَالَ وَالنِّسَاءُ النِّسَاءَ وَكَانَتْ الْحُمْسُ لَا يَخْرُجُونَ مِنْ الْمُزْدَلِفَةِ وَكَانَ النَّاسُ كُلُّهُمْ يَبْلُغُونَ عَرَفَاتٍ قَالَ هِشَامٌ فَحَدَّثَنِي أَبِي عَنْ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا قَالَتْ الْحُمْسُ هُمْ الَّذِينَ أَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ فِيهِمْ { ثُمَّ أَفِيضُوا مِنْ حَيْثُ أَفَاضَ النَّاسُ } قَالَتْ كَانَ النَّاسُ يُفِيضُونَ مِنْ عَرَفَاتٍ وَكَانَ الْحُمْسُ يُفِيضُونَ مِنْ الْمُزْدَلِفَةِ يَقُولُونَ لَا نُفِيضُ إِلَّا مِنْ الْحَرَمِ فَلَمَّا نَزَلَتْ { أَفِيضُوا مِنْ حَيْثُ أَفَاضَ النَّاسُ } رَجَعُوا إِلَى عَرَفَاتٍ
"Narrated to us Abu Kuraib, narrated to us Abu Usamah, narrated to us Hisyam from his father, he said: The Arabs of old used to circumambulate the Kaaba naked, except for Al Hums. Al Hums were the Quraysh and their descendants. The Arabs circumambulated naked unless they were given clothes by the Quraysh, men giving to men and women to women. The Quraysh did not depart from Muzdalifah, but the masses all went to Arafah. Hisyam said: Narrated to me my father from Aishah, may Allah be pleased with her, she said: Al Hums were the Quraysh, which caused Allah to reveal the verse about them, 'Then depart from the place where the people depart...' (Al Baqarah: 199). Aishah said: The masses departed from Arafah, while they (Al Hums) departed from Muzdalifah. They said, 'We will not depart except from the sacred land.' So when the verse above was revealed, they all went to Arafah.
