حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْمَعِيلَ حَدَّثَنَا خَلَّادُ بْنُ يَحْيَي حَدَّثَنَا بَشِيرُ بْنُ الْمُهَاجِرِ أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ بُرَيْدَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ هَلْ تَدْرُونَ مَا هَذِهِ وَمَا هَذِهِ وَرَمَى بِحَصَاتَيْنِ قَالُوا اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ قَالَ هَذَاكَ الْأَمَلُ وَهَذَاكَ الْأَجَلُقَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ غَرِيبٌ مِنْ هَذَا الْوَجْهِ
Narrated to us [Muhammad bin Isma'il] has told us [Khallad bin Yahya] has told us [Basyir bin Al Muhajir] has told us [Abdullah bin Buraidah] from [his father] he said : The Prophet peace be upon him said: "Do you know what this is and what this is?" - he threw two pebbles, - the friends answered; "Allah and His Messenger know better," he said: "This one is like a dream and this one is like death." Abu Isa said : From this path, this hadith is Hasan Gharib.
