Musa bin Isma'il narrated to us, Jarir bin Hazim narrated to us, Abu Raja' narrated to us, from Samrah bin Jundab, who said: It was the habit of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, after performing a prayer, to turn to us and say, 'Who among you saw a dream last night?' He Sa'd 'If someone had a dream, he would narrate it, and the Prophet would say, ?As Allah wills.? One day, he asked us, 'Did any of you see a dream?' We Sa'd 'No.' He Sa'd 'But I saw last night two men who came to me, took my hand, and led me to the Holy Land. There was a man sitting and another standing with an iron hook in his hand.' Some of our companions narrated from Musa that the hook was inserted into one side of his mouth until it reached his neck, then the same was done to the other side, and the first side healed, and it was repeated. I Sa'd 'What is this?' They Sa'd 'Move on.' We moved on until we came to a man lying on his back with another standing over his head with a rock or stone, smashing his head. When he struck, the stone rolled away, and he went to retrieve it. By the time he returned, the head had healed, and he struck it again. I Sa'd 'Who is this?' They Sa'd 'Move on.' We moved on to a hole like an oven, narrow at the top and wide at the bottom, with fire burning beneath it. When the fire came close, they rose until they almost came out, and when it subsided, they returned to it. There were men and women, naked. I Sa'd 'Who are these?' They Sa'd 'Move on.' We moved on until we came to a river of blood with a man standing in its middle.' Yazid and Wahb bin Jarir narrated from Jarir bin Hazim: 'And on the riverbank was a man with stones in front of him. When the man in the river tried to come out, the man threw a stone into his mouth, forcing him back. This happened every time he tried to come out. I Sa'd 'What is this?' They Sa'd 'Move on.' We moved on until we reached a green garden with a great tree, at its base an old man and children, and a man near the tree kindling a fire. They took me up the tree and into a house more beautiful than any I had seen, with old men, youths, women, and children. Then they took me out and up the tree again into a house even better and more excellent, with old men and youths. I Sa'd 'You have shown me around tonight; tell me what I saw.' They Sa'd 'Yes. The one whose mouth was torn is a liar who told lies that spread to the horizons, so he is treated thus until the Day of Resurrection. The one whose head was smashed is a man whom Allah taught the Qur?an, but he slept through it at night and did not act upon it by day, so he is treated thus until the Day of Resurrection. Those in the oven are adulterers. The one in the river is an eater of usury. The old man at the tree?s base is Ibrahim, peace be upon him, and the children around him are the children of mankind. The one kindling the fire is Malik, the keeper of Hell. The first house you entered is the abode of the general believers, and this house is the abode of the martyrs. I am Jibril, and this is Mika?il. Raise your head.' I raised my head and saw above me something like a cloud. They Sa'd 'That is your abode.' I Sa'd 'Let me enter my abode.' They Sa'd 'You still have life remaining; when it is complete, you will come to your abode.'
