حَدَّثَنَا مَحْمُودُ بْنُ غَيْلَانَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو دَاوُدَ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ حَدَّثَنَا أَنَسُ بْنُ مَالِكٍ عَنْ أُسَيْدِ بْنِ حُضَيْرٍ أَنَّ رَجُلًا مِنْ الْأَنْصَارِ قَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ اسْتَعْمَلْتَ فُلَانًا وَلَمْ تَسْتَعْمِلْنِي فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِنَّكُمْ سَتَرَوْنَ بَعْدِي أَثَرَةً فَاصْبِرُوا حَتَّى تَلْقَوْنِي عَلَى الْحَوْضِ قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى وَهَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ
Narrated to us [Mahmud bin Ghailan] has told us [Abu Dawud] has told us [Syu'bah] from [Qatadah] has told us [Anas bin Malik] from [Usaid bin Hudlair], an Ansar said: O Messenger of Allah, you assigned fi and so and so but you did not assign me. Rasulullahpeace be upon him said: "You will see the nature of selfishness (egoism), be patient until you meet me at the lake. Abu Isa said: This hadith is hasan sahih .
