Imam adalah pelindung, di belakangnya umat berperang dan kepadanya mereka berlindung
Imam Nasa'i : 4125أَخْبَرَنَا عِمْرَانُ بْنُ بَكَّارٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَيَّاشٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا شُعَيْبٌ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو الزِّنَادِ مِمَّا حَدَّثَهُ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ الْأَعْرَجُ مِمَّا ذَكَرَ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ يُحَدِّثُعَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ إِنَّمَا الْإِمَامُ جُنَّةٌ يُقَاتَلُ مِنْ وَرَائِهِ وَيُتَّقَى بِهِ فَإِنْ أَمَرَ بِتَقْوَى اللَّهِ وَعَدَلَ فَإِنَّ لَهُ بِذَلِكَ أَجْرًا وَإِنْ أَمَرَ بِغَيْرِهِ فَإِنَّ عَلَيْهِ وِزْرًا
Narrated to us [Imran bin Bakkar], he said : has told us [Ali bin 'Ayyasy], he said : has told us [Syu'aib], he said : has told me [Abu Az Zinad] of what was told to him by [Abdurrahman Al A'raj], among what he mentioned that he heard [Abu Hurairah] tell from the Messenger of Allah peace be upon him, he said: "Indeed, an imam is a shield in which war is fought from behind him and he is made a protector. If he commands to fear Allah and do justice, then by that he will get a reward, whereas if this is not the case then it becomes a sin for him."
