Perintah untuk meneliti hadits Rasulullah, kemudian perintah menulisnya juga
Imam Darimi : 488حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ حَسَّانَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ دِينَارٍ قَالَ كَتَبَ عُمَرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ إِلَى أَهْلِ الْمَدِينَةِ أَنْ انْظُرُوا حَدِيثَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَاكْتُبُوهُ فَإِنِّي قَدْ خِفْتُ دُرُوسَ الْعِلْمِ وَذَهَابَ أَهْلِهِ
Narrated to us [Yahya bin Hassan] related to us [Abdul Aziz bin Muslim] from [Abdullah bin Dinar] who said: "[Umar bin Abdul Aziz] once wrote a letter to the people of Medina: 'You should research the hadith of the Messenger of Allah Peace be upon him, then write it down, because I am afraid that knowledge will be destroyed and lost (with the death of the scholars). '
