حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَقُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ أَخْبَرَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الْقَطَّانُ عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ عَنْ نَافِعٍ عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ عَنْ عُمَرَ قَالَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنِّي كُنْتُ نَذَرْتُ أَنْ أَعْتَكِفَ لَيْلَةً فِي الْمَسْجِدِ الْحَرَامِ فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ قَالَ أَوْفِ بِنَذْرِكَقَالَ وَفِي الْبَاب عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو وَابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى حَدِيثُ عُمَرَ حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ وَقَدْ ذَهَبَ بَعْضُ أَهْلِ الْعِلْمِ إِلَى هَذَا الْحَدِيثِ قَالُوا إِذَا أَسْلَمَ الرَّجُلُ وَعَلَيْهِ نَذْرُ طَاعَةٍ فَلْيَفِ بِهِ وَقَالَ بَعْضُ أَهْلِ الْعِلْمِ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَغَيْرِهِمْ لَا اعْتِكَافَ إِلَّا بِصَوْمٍ و قَالَ آخَرُونَ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْعِلْمِ لَيْسَ عَلَى الْمُعْتَكِفِ صَوْمٌ إِلَّا أَنْ يُوجِبَ عَلَى نَفْسِهِ صَوْمًا وَاحْتَجُّوا بِحَدِيثِ عُمَرَ أَنَّهُ نَذَرَ أَنْ يَعْتَكِفَ لَيْلَةً فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ فَأَمَرَهُ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِالْوَفَاءِ وَهُوَ قَوْلُ أَحْمَدَ وَإِسْحَقَ

Narrated to us [Ishaq bin Manshur] said, informed us [Yahya bin Sa'id Al Qaththan] from [Ubaidullah bin Umar] from [Nafi'] from [Ibnu Umar] from [Umar], he said: 'I asked: O Messenger of Allah, during the time of Jahiliyyah, I vowed to perform i’tikaf in the Sacred Mosque for one night." He replied: "Fulfill your vow." He said: 'In this matter, a similar hadith is narrated from Abdullah bin Amru and Ibnu Abbas.' Abu Isa said: 'The hadith of Umar is hasan sahih. Some scholars adhere to this hadith, saying: "If a man converts to Islam and vows to perform an act of obedience, he should fulfill his vow." Some scholars from the companions of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and others say: "There is no i’tikaf without fasting." Other scholars say: "A person performing i’tikaf does not have to fast unless he obligates himself to fast." They rely on the hadith of Umar, that he vowed to perform i’tikaf for one night during Jahiliyyah, and the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, ordered him to fulfill his vow. This is the opinion of Ahmad and Ishaq.'"
