Narrated to me Muhammad bin Ubaid, narrated to us Isa bin Yunus from Umar bin Sa'id, he said: Ibn Abu Mulaikah informed me that Abu Amr Dhakwan, a freed slave of Aishah, informed him that Aishah said: Among the blessings of Allah upon me is that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, passed away in my house, on my day, between my chest and throat, and that Allah combined my saliva with his at his death. Abdur Rahman entered upon me with a siwak in his hand while I was supporting the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him. I saw him looking at it, and I knew he loved the siwak. I said, "Shall I take it for you?" He nodded yes. I took it, but it was too hard for him, so I said, "Shall I soften it for you?" He nodded yes. I softened it and gave it to him, and he used it. In front of him was a container or small bucket—Umar was uncertain—with water. He dipped his hands in the water and wiped his face, saying, "There is no god but Allah indeed, death has its pangs." Then he raised his hand and kept saying, "With the Highest Companion," until he passed away, and his hand fell.
