Narrated by 'Umar bin Hafsh bin Ghiyath, narrated by his father, narrated by Al-A'mash, who said: Ibrahim narrated to me from Al-Aswad from 'Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: While we were with the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) in a cave at Mina, the revelation of Surah Al-Mursalat came to him. He was reciting it, and I was learning it from his mouth while his lips were still moist with it. Suddenly, a snake leaped at us, and the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: Kill it. We rushed toward it, but it escaped. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: It was spared from your harm as you were spared from its harm.
