Surat Abasa turun berkenaan dengan Abdullah bin Ummi Maktum
Imam Malik : 426و حَدَّثَنِي عَنْ مَالِك عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ أَنَّهُ قَالَأُنْزِلَتْ عَبَسَ وَتَوَلَّى فِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أُمِّ مَكْتُومٍ جَاءَ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَجَعَلَ يَقُولُ يَا مُحَمَّدُ اسْتَدْنِينِي وَعِنْدَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَجُلٌ مِنْ عُظَمَاءِ الْمُشْرِكِينَ فَجَعَلَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُعْرِضُ عَنْهُ وَيُقْبِلُ عَلَى الْآخَرِ وَيَقُولُ يَا أَبَا فُلَانٍ هَلْ تَرَى بِمَا أَقُولُ بَأْسًا فَيَقُولُ لَا وَالدِّمَاءِ مَا أَرَى بِمَا تَقُولُ بَأْسًا فَأُنْزِلَتْ عَبَسَ وَتَوَلَّى أَنْ جَاءَهُ الْأَعْمَى
Malik narrated to me from Hisham ibn Urwah, from his father, that he said: Surah 'Abasa wa tawalla was revealed concerning Abdullah ibn Umm Maktum. He came to the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and said, 'O Muhammad, teach me about my religion.' At that time, there were some prominent men from the Quraysh near the Prophet. The Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, paid no attention to him and turned to the others, saying, 'O Abu so-and-so, what do you think of what I just said?' The man replied, 'No, by the blood, I see no harm in what you say.' Then it was revealed: 'He frowned and turned away because the blind man came to him.' (Quran, Abasa: 1-2)
