Turunnya QS. At-Taubah: 84 mengenai larangan menshalati jenazah orang-orang munafik (peristiwa wafatnya Abdullah bin Ubay)
Imam Bukhari : 1190حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدٌ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي نَافِعٌ عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَاأَنَّ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ أُبَيٍّ لَمَّا تُوُفِّيَ جَاءَ ابْنُهُ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَعْطِنِي قَمِيصَكَ أُكَفِّنْهُ فِيهِ وَصَلِّ عَلَيْهِ وَاسْتَغْفِرْ لَهُ فَأَعْطَاهُ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَمِيصَهُ فَقَالَ آذِنِّي أُصَلِّي عَلَيْهِ فَآذَنَهُ فَلَمَّا أَرَادَ أَنْ يُصَلِّيَ عَلَيْهِ جَذَبَهُ عُمَرُ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ فَقَالَ أَلَيْسَ اللَّهُ نَهَاكَ أَنْ تُصَلِّيَ عَلَى الْمُنَافِقِينَ فَقَالَ أَنَا بَيْنَ خِيَرَتَيْنِ قَالَ{ اسْتَغْفِرْ لَهُمْ أَوْ لَا تَسْتَغْفِرْ لَهُمْ إِنْ تَسْتَغْفِرْ لَهُمْ سَبْعِينَ مَرَّةً فَلَنْ يَغْفِرَ اللَّهُ لَهُمْ }فَصَلَّى عَلَيْهِ فَنَزَلَتْ{ وَلَا تُصَلِّ عَلَى أَحَدٍ مِنْهُمْ مَاتَ أَبَدًا وَلَا تَقُمْ عَلَى قَبْرِهِ }
Musaddad narrated to us, Yahya bin Sa'id narrated to us from Ubaidullah, who Sa'd Nafi, narrated to me from Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) that when Abdullah bin Ubayy passed away, his son came to the Prophet peace and blessings be upon him and Sa'd 'O Messenger of Allah, give me your shirt to shroud him in, and pray over him and seek forgiveness for him.' The Prophet peace and blessings be upon him gave him his shirt and Sa'd 'Inform me so I can pray over him.' He informed him, and when he intended to pray over him, Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) pulled him and Sa'd 'Has not Allah forbidden you from praying over the hypocrites?' He Sa'd 'I am between two choices,' and he recited, 'Whether you seek forgiveness for them or not, even if you seek forgiveness for them seventy times, Allah will not forgive them.' So he prayed over him, and then the verse was revealed: 'Do not pray over any of them who die, ever, nor stand at their grave.'
