Imam Ahmad : 14267حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَلَمَةَ أَخْبَرَنَا بَكْرُ بْنُ مُضَرَ حَدَّثَنَا عُمَارَةُ بْنُ غَزِيَّةَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَسْعَدَ بْنِ زُرَارَةَ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي بَعْضِ أَسْفَارِهِ رَأَى نَاسًا مُجْتَمِعِينَ عَلَى رَجُلٍ فَسَأَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالُوا رَجُلٌ جَهَدَهُ الصِّيَامُ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَيْسَ الْبِرُّ الصِّيَامَ فِي السَّفَرِ
Narrated to us [Abu Salamah] Narrated to us [Bakr bin Mudlor] Narrated to us ['Umaroh bin Ghoziyyah] from [Muhammad bin Abdurrahman bin As'ad bin zuroroh] from [Jabir bin Abdullah] indeed the Messenger of Allah peace and blessings be upon him on part of his journey saw people gathered around a man. Then The Messenger of Allah shallallahu'alaihi wasallam asked about this, and they answered, 'He was fasting.' Then the Prophet peace and blessings be upon him said: "It is not a good thing to fast while traveling.
