Imam Ahmad : 7745حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ حَدَّثَنَا مَعْمَرٌ عَنْ سُهَيْلِ بْنِ أَبِي صَالِحٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَا تَعُدُّونَ الشَّهِيدَ فِيكُمْ قَالُوا مَنْ قُتِلَ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ قَالَ إِنَّ شُهَدَاءَ أُمَّتِي إِذًا لَقَلِيلٌ الْقَتْلُ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ شَهَادَةٌ وَالْبَطَنُ شَهَادَةٌ وَالْغَرَقُ شَهَادَةٌ وَالنُّفَسَاءُ شَهَادَةٌ وَالطَّاعُونُ شَهَادَةٌ
[Abdurrazzaq] narrated to us [Ma'mar] from [Suhail bin Abi Salih] from [his father] from [Abu Hurairah], he said: The Messenger of Allah peace and blessings be upon him said: "Who do you consider a martyr among you?" The companions said: "He who is killed in the way of Allah." The Messenger of Allah peace and blessings be upon him said: "Then the martyrs among my Ummah are very few, killed in the way of Allah is a martyr, death from stomach ache is a martyr, death from drowning is a martyr, death from childbirth is a martyr, and death from plague is a martyr.
