Allah telah mewajibkan kepada mereka lima kali shalat setiap hari dan malam
Imam Muslim : 28حَدَّثَنَا أُمَيَّةُ بْنُ بِسْطَامَ الْعَيْشِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ زُرَيْعٍ حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ وَهُوَ ابْنُ الْقَاسِمِ عَنْ إِسْمَعِيلَ بْنِ أُمَيَّةَ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ صَيْفِيٍّ عَنْ أَبِي مَعْبَدٍ عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَمَّا بَعَثَ مُعَاذًا إِلَى الْيَمَنِ قَالَ إِنَّكَ تَقْدَمُ عَلَى قَوْمٍ أَهْلِ كِتَابٍ فَلْيَكُنْ أَوَّلَ مَا تَدْعُوهُمْ إِلَيْهِ عِبَادَةُ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ فَإِذَا عَرَفُوا اللَّهَ فَأَخْبِرْهُمْ أَنَّ اللَّهَ فَرَضَ عَلَيْهِمْ خَمْسَ صَلَوَاتٍ فِي يَوْمِهِمْ وَلَيْلَتِهِمْ فَإِذَا فَعَلُوا فَأَخْبِرْهُمْ أَنَّ اللَّهَ قَدْ فَرَضَ عَلَيْهِمْ زَكَاةً تُؤْخَذُ مِنْ أَغْنِيَائِهِمْ فَتُرَدُّ عَلَى فُقَرَائِهِمْ فَإِذَا أَطَاعُوا بِهَا فَخُذْ مِنْهُمْ وَتَوَقَّ كَرَائِمَ أَمْوَالِهِمْ
Umayyah bin Bistham al-Aisyi narrated to us, who said that Yazid bin Zura'i` narrated to us, who said that Rauh, that is Ibn al-Qasim, narrated to us from Ismail bin Umayyah from Yahya bin Abdullah bin Shaifi from Abu Ma'bad from Ibn Abbas, that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), when he sent Mu'adh to Yemen, said, 'Indeed, you are going to a people from the People of the Book, so the first thing you should invite them to is the worship of Allah, the Exalted and Majestic. If they recognize Allah, then inform them that Allah has obligated upon them five prayers in their day and night. If they perform them, then inform them that Allah has obligated a zakat upon them that is taken from their rich and distributed to their poor. If they obey you in that, then take the zakat from them and be afraid of their valuable wealth.'
