Imam Ibnu Majah : 1603

حَدَّثَنَا حَرْمَلَةُ بْنُ يَحْيَى قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ وَهْبٍ حَدَّثَنِي حُيَيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْمَعَافِرِيُّ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْحُبُلِيِّ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو قَالَتُوُفِّيَ رَجُلٌ بِالْمَدِينَةِ مِمَّنْ وُلِدَ بِالْمَدِينَةِ فَصَلَّى عَلَيْهِ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ يَا لَيْتَهُ مَاتَ فِي غَيْرِ مَوْلِدِهِ فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ مِنْ النَّاسِ وَلِمَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَالَ إِنَّ الرَّجُلَ إِذَا مَاتَ فِي غَيْرِ مَوْلِدِهِ قِيسَ لَهُ مِنْ مَوْلِدِهِ إِلَى مُنْقَطَعِ أَثَرِهِ فِي الْجَنَّةِ

Narrated by [Harmalah bin Yahya], he said: Narrated by [Abdullah bin Wahb], narrated by [Huyay bin Abdullah Al Ma'afiri] from [Abu 'Abdurrahman Al Hubuli] from [Abdullah bin Amru], he said: A man born in Medina died in Medina, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) prayed over him. He said: If only he had died outside his birthplace. A companion asked, Why, O Messenger of Allah? He replied: If someone dies outside their birthplace, the distance from their birthplace to their final resting place is measured in Paradise.
