Turunnya QS. Al-Ma'idah: 101 setelah para sahabat bertanya apakah haji wajib setiap tahun, dan setelah seseorang menanyakan siapa ayahnya
Imam Ibnu Majah : 2875حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ نُمَيْرٍ وَعَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا مَنْصُورُ بْنُ وَرْدَانَ حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْأَعْلَى عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ أَبِي الْبَخْتَرِيِّ عَنْ عَلِيٍّ قَالَلَمَّا نَزَلَتْ{ وَلِلَّهِ عَلَى النَّاسِ حِجُّ الْبَيْتِ مَنْ اسْتَطَاعَ إِلَيْهِ سَبِيلًا }قَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ الْحَجُّ فِي كُلِّ عَامٍ فَسَكَتَ ثُمَّ قَالُوا أَفِي كُلِّ عَامٍ فَقَالَ لَا وَلَوْ قُلْتُ نَعَمْ لَوَجَبَتْ فَنَزَلَتْ{ يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا لَا تَسْأَلُوا عَنْ أَشْيَاءَ إِنْ تُبْدَ لَكُمْ تَسُؤْكُمْ }
Narrated by [Muhammad bin 'Abdullah bin Numair] and ['Ali bin Muhammad], both said: Narrated by [Manshur bin Wardan], narrated by ['Ali bin Abdul A'la], from his father, from [Abu Al Bakhtari], from ['Ali], he said: When the verse {For Allah, people owe the duty of Hajj to the House, for those able to undertake it (man istaṭā‘a ilayhi sabīlā)} was revealed, they asked, ‘O Rasulullah, is Hajj every year?’ He was silent. They asked again, ‘Every year?’ He said, ‘No, if I said yes, it would become obligatory.’ Then the verse {O you who believe, do not ask about things that, if revealed, would trouble you} was revealed.
