Ketika terjadi gerhana matahari, Rasulullah memperbanyak tasbih, tahmid, tahlil, takbir, dan doa hingga matahari kembali terlihat, kemudian melaksanakan shalat dua rakaat
Imam Muslim : 1519و حَدَّثَنِي عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ الْقَوَارِيرِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا بِشْرُ بْنُ الْمُفَضَّلِ حَدَّثَنَا الْجُرَيْرِيُّ عَنْ أَبِي الْعَلَاءِ حَيَّانَ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ قَالَ بَيْنَمَا أَنَا أَرْمِي بِأَسْهُمِي فِي حَيَاةِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذْ انْكَسَفَتْ الشَّمْسُ فَنَبَذْتُهُنَّ وَقُلْتُ لَأَنْظُرَنَّ إِلَى مَا يَحْدُثُ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي انْكِسَافِ الشَّمْسِ الْيَوْمَ فَانْتَهَيْتُ إِلَيْهِ وَهُوَ رَافِعٌ يَدَيْهِ يَدْعُو وَيُكَبِّرُ وَيَحْمَدُ وَيُهَلِّلُ حَتَّى جُلِّيَ عَنْ الشَّمْسِ فَقَرَأَ سُورَتَيْنِ وَرَكَعَ رَكْعَتَيْنِ
Narrated to me Ubaidullah bin Umar Al Qawariri, narrated to us Bisyr Al Mufadldlal, narrated to us Al Jurairi from Abul Ala` Hayyan bin Umair from Abdurrahman bin Samurah, he said, During the time of the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, while I was playing with arrows, a solar eclipse occurred. I threw my playing tools and said, I will see what the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, does during a solar eclipse. When I reached him, I found him raising his hands, supplicating, saying takbir, tahmid, and tahlil until the sun shone again. He recited two surahs and performed two rak'ahs.
