Imam Ahmad : 101
حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ يَحْيَى قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مَعْمَرٌ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ رَبِيعَةَ بْنِ دَرَّاجٍ أَنَّ عَلِيًّا رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ صَلَّى بَعْدَ الْعَصْرِ رَكْعَتَيْنِ فَتَغَيَّظَ عَلَيْهِ عُمَرُ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ وَقَالَ أَمَا عَلِمْتَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يَنْهَانَا عَنْهَا
Narrated to us [Al Hasan Bin Yahya] he said; has informed us [Ibnul Mubarak] he said; Narrated to us [Ma'mar] from [Az Zuhri] from [Rabi'ah Bin Darraj] that Ali prayed two rak'ahs after Asr so that it made [Umar] angry and said; "Don't you know that Rasulullah shallallahu 'alaihi wasallam forbade us to do it.

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْمُغِيرَةِ حَدَّثَنَا صَفْوَانُ حَدَّثَنَا شُرَيْحُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ قَالَ قَالَ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ خَرَجْتُ أَتَعَرَّضُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَبْلَ أَنْ أُسْلِمَ فَوَجَدْتُهُ قَدْ سَبَقَنِي إِلَى الْمَسْجِدِ فَقُمْتُ خَلْفَهُ فَاسْتَفْتَحَ سُورَةَ الْحَاقَّةِ فَجَعَلْتُ أَعْجَبُ مِنْ تَأْلِيفِ الْقُرْآنِ قَالَ فَقُلْتُ هَذَا وَاللَّهِ شَاعِرٌ كَمَا قَالَتْ قُرَيْشٌ قَالَ فَقَرَأَ { إِنَّهُ لَقَوْلُ رَسُولٍ كَرِيمٍ وَمَا هُوَ بِقَوْلِ شَاعِرٍ قَلِيلًا مَا تُؤْمِنُونَ } قَالَ قُلْتُ كَاهِنٌ قَالَ { وَلَا بِقَوْلِ كَاهِنٍ قَلِيلًا مَا تَذَكَّرُونَ تَنْزِيلٌ مِنْ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ وَلَوْ تَقَوَّلَ عَلَيْنَا بَعْضَ الْأَقَاوِيلِ لَأَخَذْنَا مِنْهُ بِالْيَمِينِ ثُمَّ لَقَطَعْنَا مِنْهُ الْوَتِينَ فَمَا مِنْكُمْ مِنْ أَحَدٍ عَنْهُ حَاجِزِينَ } إِلَى آخِرِ السُّورَةِ قَالَ فَوَقَعَ الْإِسْلَامُ فِي قَلْبِي كُلَّ مَوْقِعٍ
Narrated to us [Abul Mughirah] Narrated to us [Shafwan] Narrated to us [Syuraih Bin 'Ubaid] he said; [Umar Bin Al Khaththab] said; I went out to confront Rasulullah sallallaahu 'alaihi wasallam before I converted to Islam, but I found that he had preceded me in the mosque and I was standing behind him, then he opened his prayer by reciting Surah Al Haaqqah so that I was amazed by the structure of the Qur'an," Umar continued; so I said; "By Allah, this man is a poet as said by the Quraysh," Umar continued; then he read the verse: "Indeed, the Koran is truly the revelation of Allah which was revealed to the noble Messenger. And the Koran is not the words of a poet, you have little faith in it" (QS Al Haaqah verse 40-41), Umar said; so I said; "poet" then he read: "And neither are the words of a soothsayer. you learn very little from it. It is a revelation sent down from the God of the universe. If he (Muhammad) said a few words on our behalf, we would surely hold him in his right hand. Then we actually cut the heart cord. "So none of you can stop (us) from cutting that vein," until the end of the letter, Umar said: "Then Islam truly sank into my heart.

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْمُغِيرَةِ وَعِصَامُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا صَفْوَانُ عَنْ شُرَيْحِ بْنِ عُبَيْدٍ وَرَاشِدِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ وَغَيْرِهِمَا قَالُوا لَمَّا بَلَغَ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ سَرَغَ حُدِّثَ أَنَّ بِالشَّامِ وَبَاءً شَدِيدًا قَالَ بَلَغَنِي أَنَّ شِدَّةَ الْوَبَاءِ فِي الشَّامِ فَقُلْتُ إِنْ أَدْرَكَنِي أَجَلِي وَأَبُو عُبَيْدَةَ بْنُ الْجَرَّاحِ حَيٌّ اسْتَخْلَفْتُهُ فَإِنْ سَأَلَنِي اللَّهُ لِمَ اسْتَخْلَفْتَهُ عَلَى أُمَّةِ مُحَمَّدٍ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قُلْتُ إِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَكَ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ إِنَّ لِكُلِّ نَبِيٍّ أَمِينًا وَأَمِينِي أَبُو عُبَيْدَةَ بْنُ الْجَرَّاحِ فَأَنْكَرَ الْقَوْمُ ذَلِكَ وَقَالُوا مَا بَالُ عُلْيَا قُرَيْشٍ يَعْنُونَ بَنِي فِهْرٍ ثُمَّ قَالَ فَإِنْ أَدْرَكَنِي أَجَلِي وَقَدْ تُوُفِّيَ أَبُو عُبَيْدَةَ اسْتَخْلَفْتُ مُعَاذَ بْنَ جَبَلٍ فَإِنْ سَأَلَنِي رَبِّي عَزَّ وَجَلَّ لِمَ اسْتَخْلَفْتَهُ قُلْتُ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَكَ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ إِنَّهُ يُحْشَرُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ بَيْنَ يَدَيْ الْعُلَمَاءِ نَبْذَةً
Narrated to us that [Abul Mughirah] and ['Isham Bin Khalid] both said; Narrated to us [Shafwan] from [Syuraih Bin 'Ubaid] and [Rasyid Bin Sa'd] and others, they said; when [Umar] arrived at Saragh, he received news that in Syria there had been a serious epidemic, so he said; "News reached me that a severe plague had broken out in Syria, so I said: 'If death were to overtake me while Abu Ubaidah Bin Jarrah was still alive, I would certainly appoint him as my successor, and if Allah asked me: 'Why did you appoint him as your successor for the Ummah of Muhammad sallallaahu 'alaihi wasallam?' I would answer: 'Indeed, I heard Your Messenger sallallaahu 'alaihi wasallam say: "Indeed, with every Prophet there is an amin (one who is trusted) and my amin is Abu 'Ubaidah Bin Jarrah." So the people denied it and said: "What is wrong with the leaders of Quraysh?" They meant Bani Fihri, then Umar said: "If death were to overtake me while Abu 'Ubaidah had died, then I would appoint Mu'adh Bin Jabal, and if Allah asked me: 'Why did you appoint him?' I would answer: "I heard your Messenger sallallaahu 'alaihi wasallam say: "Surely he will be gathered on the Day of Resurrection together with the scholars alone.

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْمُغِيرَةِ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ عَيَّاشٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي الْأَوْزَاعِيُّ وَغَيْرُهُ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيَّبِ عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ وُلِدَ لِأَخِي أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ غُلَامٌ فَسَمَّوْهُ الْوَلِيدَ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ سَمَّيْتُمُوهُ بِأَسْمَاءِ فَرَاعِنَتِكُمْ لَيَكُونَنَّ فِي هَذِهِ الْأُمَّةِ رَجُلٌ يُقَالُ لَهُ الْوَلِيدُ لَهُوَ شَرٌّ عَلَى هَذِهِ الْأُمَّةِ مِنْ فِرْعَوْنَ لِقَوْمِهِ
Narrated to us [Abul Mughirah] Narrated to us [Ibn 'Ayyasy] he said; Has told me [Al Auza'i] and others, from [Az Zuhri] from [Sa'id Bin Al Musayyib] from [Umar Bin Al Khaththab] he said; "A child was born to the brother of Umm Salamah, the wife of the Prophet sallallaahu 'alaihi wasallam, and was given the name Al Walid, so the Prophet said: "You name him after the names of your pharaohs, indeed there will be in this ummah a man named Al Walid, indeed he is worse for this ummah than the pharaoh was for his people.

حَدَّثَنَا بَهْزٌ حَدَّثَنَا أَبَانُ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ عَنْ أَبِى الْعَالِيَةِ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ شَهِدَ عِنْدِي رِجَالٌ مَرْضِيُّونَ مِنْهُمْ عُمَرُ وَأَرْضَاهُمْ عِنْدِي عُمَرُ أَنَّ نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يَقُولُ لَا صَلَاةَ بَعْدَ صَلَاةِ الْعَصْرِ حَتَّى تَغْرُبَ الشَّمْسُ وَلَا صَلَاةَ بَعْدَ صَلَاةِ الصُّبْحِ حَتَّى تَطْلُعَ الشَّمْسُ
Narrated to us [Bahz] Narrated to us [Aban] from [Qatadah] from [Abul 'Aliyah] from [Ibn Abbas] he said; I have testified with my blessed companions, among them [Umar], and the one I am most pleased with is Umar, that the Prophet sallallaahu 'alaihi wasallam said: "There is no prayer after the Asr prayer until the sun sets, and there is no prayer after the Fajr prayer until the sun rises.

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْمُغِيرَةِ حَدَّثَنَا صَفْوَانُ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ جُبَيْرِ بْنِ نُفَيْرٍ عَنِ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ مُعَاوِيَةَ الْكِنْدِيِّ أَنَّهُ رَكِبَ إِلَى عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ يَسْأَلُهُ عَنْ ثَلَاثِ خِلَالٍ قَالَ فَقَدِمَ الْمَدِينَةَ فَسَأَلَهُ عُمَرُ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ مَا أَقْدَمَكَ قَالَ لِأَسْأَلَكَ عَنْ ثَلَاثِ خِلَالٍ قَالَ وَمَا هُنَّ قَالَ رُبَّمَا كُنْتُ أَنَا وَالْمَرْأَةُ فِي بِنَاءٍ ضَيِّقٍ فَتَحْضُرُ الصَّلَاةُ فَإِنْ صَلَّيْتُ أَنَا وَهِيَ كَانَتْ بِحِذَائِي وَإِنْ صَلَّتْ خَلْفِي خَرَجَتْ مِنْ الْبِنَاءِ فَقَالَ عُمَرُ تَسْتُرُ بَيْنَكَ وَبَيْنَهَا بِثَوْبٍ ثُمَّ تُصَلِّي بِحِذَائِكَ إِنْ شِئْتَ وَعَنْ الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ بَعْدَ الْعَصْرِ فَقَالَ نَهَانِي عَنْهُمَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ وَعَنْ الْقَصَصِ فَإِنَّهُمْ أَرَادُونِي عَلَى الْقَصَصِ فَقَالَ مَا شِئْتَ كَأَنَّهُ كَرِهَ أَنْ يَمْنَعَهُ قَالَ إِنَّمَا أَرَدْتُ أَنْ أَنْتَهِيَ إِلَى قَوْلِكَ قَالَ أَخْشَى عَلَيْكَ أَنْ تَقُصَّ فَتَرْتَفِعَ عَلَيْهِمْ فِي نَفْسِكَ ثُمَّ تَقُصَّ فَتَرْتَفِعَ حَتَّى يُخَيَّلَ إِلَيْكَ أَنَّكَ فَوْقَهُمْ بِمَنْزِلَةِ الثُّرَيَّا فَيَضَعَكَ اللَّهُ تَحْتَ أَقْدَامِهِمْ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ بِقَدْرِ ذَلِكَ
Narrated to us [Abul Mughirah] Narrated to us [Shafwan] Narrated to us [Abdurrahman Bin Jubair Bin Nufair] from [Al Harits Bin Mu'awiyah Al Kindi] that he drove a vehicle to Umar to ask him about three things, he said; So when he arrived in Medina, Umar asked him; "What brings you here?" He answered; "To ask you three things," Umar asked; "What are those three things?" He answered; "Could it be that a woman and I are in a narrow building, then prayer time comes, if she and I pray together then she is at the same level as me, and if she prays behind me then she leaves the building?" So Umar answered; "Make a barrier between you and him with a cloth, then he will pray beside you if you wish." (And the second is) about praying two rak'ahs after the Asr prayer? Then [Umar] replied; "The Messenger of Allah shallallahu 'alaihi wasallam has forbidden me from performing it." (And the third is) about stories (fairy tales), they want me to tell stories, "so Umar replied; "As you wish." As if he did not like to forbid him, Al Harith said; "I only want to finish your opinion," Umar said; "I am afraid that you will tell stories and become arrogant over them, then tell stories and you will become arrogant, until you are lulled into thinking that you are above them like the position of a rich person, then Allah will put you under their feet on the Day of Resurrection according to your imagination.

حَدَّثَنَا بِشْرُ بْنُ شُعَيْبِ بْنِ أَبِي حَمْزَةَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي سَالِمُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عُمَرَ أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ يَنْهَاكُمْ أَنْ تَحْلِفُوا بِآبَائِكُمْ قَالَ عُمَرُ فَوَاللَّهِ مَا حَلَفْتُ بِهَا مُنْذُ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَهَى عَنْهَا وَلَا تَكَلَّمْتُ بِهَا ذَاكِرًا وَلَا آثِرًا
Narrated to us [Bisyr Bin Syu'aib Bin Abu Hamzah] he said; Having told me [my father] from [Az Zuhri] he said; has informed me [Salim Bin Abdullah] that [Abddullah Bin Umar] has informed him, that [Umar Bin Al Khaththab] said; I heard the Prophet sallallaahu 'alaihi wasallam say: "Indeed, Allah has forbidden you from swearing in the name of your fathers." Umar said; "So by Allah, I have not sworn this oath since I heard the Messenger of Allah sallallaahu 'alaihi wasallam forbid it from him, whether in a state of remembering or not remembering.

Imam Ahmad : 108
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْيَمَانِ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ رَاشِدِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ وَحُذَيْفَةَ بْنِ الْيَمَانِ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَمْ يَأْخُذْ مِنْ الْخَيْلِ وَالرَّقِيقِ صَدَقَةً
Narrated to us [Abul Yaman] Narrated to us [Abu Bakr Bin Abdullah] from [Rasyid Bin Sa'd] from [Umar Bin Al Khaththab] and [Hudzaifah Bin Al Yaman], that the Prophet sallallaahu 'alaihi wasallam did not take zakat from horses and slaves.

حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ أَنْبَأَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ يَعْنِي ابْنَ الْمُبَارَكِ أَنْبَأَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سُوقَةَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ دِينَارٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ أَنَّ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ خَطَبَ النَّاسَ بِالْجَابِيَةِ فَقَالَ قَامَ فِينَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِثْلَ مَقَامِي فِيكُمْ فَقَالَ اسْتَوْصُوا بِأَصْحَابِي خَيْرًا ثُمَّ الَّذِينَ يَلُونَهُمْ ثُمَّ الَّذِينَ يَلُونَهُمْ ثُمَّ يَفْشُو الْكَذِبُ حَتَّى إِنَّ الرَّجُلَ لَيَبْتَدِئُ بِالشَّهَادَةِ قَبْلَ أَنْ يُسْأَلَهَا فَمَنْ أَرَادَ مِنْكُمْ بَحْبَحَةَ الْجَنَّةِ فَلْيَلْزَمْ الْجَمَاعَةَ فَإِنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ مَعَ الْوَاحِدِ وَهُوَ مِنْ الِاثْنَيْنِ أَبْعَدُ لَا يَخْلُوَنَّ أَحَدُكُمْ بِامْرَأَةٍ فَإِنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ ثَالِثُهُمَا وَمَنْ سَرَّتْهُ حَسَنَتُهُ وَسَاءَتْهُ سَيِّئَتُهُ فَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ
Narrated to us that [Ali Bin Ishaq] has narrated to us [Abdullah i.e. Ibnul Mubarak] has narrated to us [Muhammad Bin Suqah] from [Abdullah Bin Dinar] from [Ibn Umar] that [Umar Bin Al Khaththab] delivered a sermon in front of the people in Jabiyah (a village in Damascus) and said; "The Messenger of Allah sallallaahu 'alaihi wasallam stood before us as I stand before you, then he said: "praise my companions with goodness, then to those after them, then to those after them, then after that lies will spread, so that a man starts testifying before he is asked, so whoever wants to smell the smell of heaven, he should stick to the Jama'ah because indeed the devil is with the one who is alone, while from two people he will stay away, "Don't let one of you be alone with a woman (who is not his mahram) because Satan is a third person, so whoever is proud of his good deeds and saddened by his bad deeds is a believer.

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْيَمَانِ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ عَنْ حَكِيمِ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ وَضَمْرَةَ بْنِ حَبِيبٍ قَالَا قَالَ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ مَنْ سَرَّهُ أَنْ يَنْظُرَ إِلَى هَدْيِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَلْيَنْظُرْ إِلَى هَدْيِ عَمْرِو بْنِ الْأَسْوَدِ
Narrated to us [Abul Yaman] Narrated to us [Abu Bakr] from [Hakim Bin 'Umair] and [Dlamrah Bin Habib] both said; [Umar Bin Al Khaththab] said; "Whoever wants to see the guidance of Rasulullah sallallaahu 'alaihi wasallam, then look at the guidance of 'Amru Bin Aswad.

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَعِيدٍ مَوْلَى بَنِي هَاشِمٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا زَائِدَةُ حَدَّثَنَا سِمَاكٌ عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ قَالَ عُمَرُ كُنَّا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي رَكْبٍ فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ لَا وَأَبِي فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ لَا تَحْلِفُوا بِآبَائِكُمْ فَالْتَفَتُّ فَإِذَا هُوَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ
Narrated to us [Abu Sa'id, a former slave of Bani Hashim] he said; Narrated to us [Za`idah] Narrated to us [Listen] from [Ikrimah] from [Mrs 'Abbas] she said; [Umar] said; we were with Rasulullah sallallaahu 'alaihi wasallam in a group, then a man said; "No, for my father's sake." Then there was another man who answered: "Don't swear by your father's name!" When I turned around it turned out that the man who answered was the Prophet sallallaahu 'alaihi wasallam.

حَدَّثَنَا عِصَامُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ وَأَبُو الْيَمَانِ قَالَا أَخْبَرَنَا شُعَيْبُ بْنُ أَبِي حَمْزَةَ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُتْبَةَ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ لَمَّا تُوُفِّيَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَكَانَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ بَعْدَهُ وَكَفَرَ مَنْ كَفَرَ مِنْ الْعَرَبِ قَالَ عُمَرُ يَا أَبَا بَكْرٍ كَيْفَ تُقَاتِلُ النَّاسَ وَقَدْ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أُمِرْتُ أَنْ أُقَاتِلَ النَّاسَ حَتَّى يَقُولُوا لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ فَمَنْ قَالَ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ فَقَدْ عَصَمَ مِنِّي مَالَهُ وَنَفْسَهُ إِلَّا بِحَقِّهِ وَحِسَابُهُ عَلَى اللَّهِ تَعَالَى قَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ وَاللَّهِ لَأُقَاتِلَنَّ قَالَ أَبُو الْيَمَانِ لَأَقْتُلَنَّ مَنْ فَرَّقَ بَيْنَ الصَّلَاةِ وَالزَّكَاةِ فَإِنَّ الزَّكَاةَ حَقُّ الْمَالِ وَاللَّهِ لَوْ مَنَعُونِي عَنَاقًا كَانُوا يُؤَدُّونَهَا إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَقَاتَلْتُهُمْ عَلَى مَنْعِهَا قَالَ عُمَرُ فَوَاللَّهِ مَا هُوَ إِلَّا أَنْ رَأَيْتُ أَنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ قَدْ شَرَحَ صَدْرَ أَبِي بَكْرٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ لِلْقِتَالِ فَعَرَفْتُ أَنَّهُ الْحَقُّ
Narrated to us that ['Isham Bin Khalid] and [Abul Yaman] both said; has informed us [Syu'aib Bin Abu Hamzah] from [Az Zuhri] he said; Narrated to us [Ubaidullah Bin Abdullah Bin 'Utbah Bin Mas'ud], that [Abu Hurairah] said; when Rasulullah shallallahu 'alaihi wasallam died and was succeeded afterwards by Abu Bakr, many Arabs became infidels, [Umar] said; "O Abu Bakr, how do you fight them when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "I have been commanded to fight people until they say Laa Ilaaha Illallaah (There is no god worthy of worship except Allah), so whoever says Laa Ilaaha Illallaah has protected his property and life from me, except with his right and his reckoning is with Allah Ta'ala." [Abu Bakr] replied: "By Allah, I will certainly fight." Abul Yaman said: "I will certainly kill anyone who differentiates between the command of prayer and zakat, because zakat is the right of wealth, by Allah, if they refuse to give me zakat even a rope that they once gave to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), I will certainly fight them because of their refusal." Umar said: "So by Allah, I do not see except that Allah has opened the heart of Abu Bakr to fight, and I also know that it is the right.

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْمُغِيرَةِ حَدَّثَنَا الْأَوْزَاعِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ شُعَيْبٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ الْعَاصِ عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ لَا صَلَاةَ بَعْدَ صَلَاةِ الصُّبْحِ إِلَى طُلُوعِ الشَّمْسِ وَلَا بَعْدَ الْعَصْرِ حَتَّى تَغِيبَ الشَّمْسُ
Narrated to us [Abul Mughirah] Narrated to us [Al Auza'i] Narrated to us ['Amru Bin Syu'aib] from [Abdullah Bin 'Amru Bin Al Ash] from [Umar Bin Al Khaththab], that the Prophet sallallaahu 'alaihi wasallam said: "There is no prayer after the morning prayer until the sun rises, and there is no prayer after the afternoon prayer until the sun sets.

حَدَّثَنَا الْحَكَمُ بْنُ نَافِعٍ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ عَيَّاشٍ عَنْ أَبِي سَبَإٍ عُتْبَةَ بْنِ تَمِيمٍ عَنْ الْوَلِيدِ بْنِ عَامِرٍ الْيَزَنِيِّ عَنْ عُرْوَةَ بْنِ مُغِيثٍ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ قَضَى النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّ صَاحِبَ الدَّابَّةِ أَحَقُّ بِصَدْرِهَا
Narrated to us [Al Hakam Bin Nafi'] has narrated to us [Ibn 'Ayyasy] from [Abu Saba' 'Utbah Bin Tamim] from [Al Walid Bin 'Amir Al Yazani] from ['Urwah Bin Mughits Al Ansari] from [Umar Bin Al Khaththab], he said; "The Prophet shallallahu 'alaihi wasallam ruled that the owner of the animal has more right over its breast.

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْيَمَانِ الْحَكَمُ بْنُ نَافِعٍ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ رَاشِدِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ عَنْ حُمْرَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ كُلَالٍ قَالَ سَارَ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ إِلَى الشَّامِ بَعْدَ مَسِيرِهِ الْأَوَّلِ كَانَ إِلَيْهَا حَتَّى إِذَا شَارَفَهَا بَلَغَهُ وَمَنْ مَعَهُ أَنَّ الطَّاعُونَ فَاشٍ فِيهَا فَقَالَ لَهُ أَصْحَابُهُ ارْجِعْ وَلَا تَقَحَّمْ عَلَيْهِ فَلَوْ نَزَلْتَهَا وَهُوَ بِهَا لَمْ نَرَ لَكَ الشُّخُوصَ عَنْهَا فَانْصَرَفَ رَاجِعًا إِلَى الْمَدِينَةِ فَعَرَّسَ مِنْ لَيْلَتِهِ تِلْكَ وَأَنَا أَقْرَبُ الْقَوْمِ مِنْهُ فَلَمَّا انْبَعَثَ انْبَعَثْتُ مَعَهُ فِي أَثَرِهِ فَسَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ رَدُّونِي عَنْ الشَّامِ بَعْدَ أَنْ شَارَفْتُ عَلَيْهِ لِأَنَّ الطَّاعُونَ فِيهِ أَلَا وَمَا مُنْصَرَفِي عَنْهُ مُؤَخِّرٌ فِي أَجَلِي وَمَا كَانَ قُدُومِيهِ مُعَجِّلِي عَنْ أَجَلِي أَلَا وَلَوْ قَدْ قَدِمْتُ الْمَدِينَةَ فَفَرَغْتُ مِنْ حَاجَاتٍ لَا بُدَّ لِي مِنْهَا لَقَدْ سِرْتُ حَتَّى أَدْخُلَ الشَّامَ ثُمَّ أَنْزِلَ حِمْصَ فَإِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ لَيَبْعَثَنَّ اللَّهُ مِنْهَا يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ سَبْعِينَ أَلْفًا لَا حِسَابَ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَا عَذَابَ عَلَيْهِمْ مَبْعَثُهُمْ فِيمَا بَيْنَ الزَّيْتُونِ وَحَائِطِهَا فِي الْبَرْثِ الْأَحْمَرِ مِنْهَا
Narrated to us [Abul Yaman Al Hakam Bin Nafi'] has related to us [Abu Bakr Bin Abdullah] from [Rasyid Bin Sa'd] from [Hamzah Bin Abdi Kulal] he said; [Umar Bin Al Khaththab] was walking towards Syria after his first journey towards it, when he was almost near, news reached him and those with him that the plague was breaking out there, so his companions said to him; "Go back and do not enter there, if you stop there while the plague is still there, then we do not see for you a place of refuge from it." So Umar returned home to Medina and rested that night, and I was the closest person to him, when he got up I got up walking behind him, then I heard him say; "They returned me from Syria after I was close to it, because the Ta'un epidemic occurred there, know that my returning from there does not mean that I can end my death and nor does my coming there mean hastening my death. Please know that if I have arrived in Medina and I have completed my needs that I have to fulfill, I will definitely walk until I enter the land of Syria and then stop at Himsha, in fact I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) say: "On the Day of Resurrection of Allah will raise seventy thousand people without reckoning and without punishment, the place where they will be raised will be between the Olive tree and its grove on the red flat land.

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ يَزِيدَ أَخْبَرَنَا حَيْوَةُ أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَقِيلٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَمِّهِ عَنْ عُقْبَةَ بْنِ عَامِرٍ أَنَّهُ خَرَجَ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي غَزْوَةِ تَبُوكَ فَجَلَسَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَوْمًا يُحَدِّثُ أَصْحَابَهُ فَقَالَ مَنْ قَامَ إِذَا اسْتَقَلَّتْ الشَّمْسُ فَتَوَضَّأَ فَأَحْسَنَ الْوُضُوءَ ثُمَّ قَامَ فَصَلَّى رَكْعَتَيْنِ غُفِرَ لَهُ خَطَايَاهُ فَكَانَ كَمَا وَلَدَتْهُ أُمُّهُ قَالَ عُقْبَةُ بْنُ عَامِرٍ فَقُلْتُ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي رَزَقَنِي أَنْ أَسْمَعَ هَذَا مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ لِي عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ وَكَانَ تُجَاهِي جَالِسًا أَتَعْجَبُ مِنْ هَذَا فَقَدْ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَعْجَبَ مِنْ هَذَا قَبْلَ أَنْ تَأْتِيَ فَقُلْتُ وَمَا ذَاكَ بِأَبِي أَنْتَ وَأُمِّي فَقَالَ عُمَرُ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَنْ تَوَضَّأَ فَأَحْسَنَ الْوُضُوءَ ثُمَّ رَفَعَ نَظَرَهُ إِلَى السَّمَاءِ فَقَالَ أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ وَأَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدُهُ وَرَسُولُهُ فُتِحَتْ لَهُ ثَمَانِيَةُ أَبْوَابِ الْجَنَّةِ يَدْخُلُ مِنْ أَيِّهَا شَاءَ
Narrated to us [Abdullah Bin Yazid] Narrated to us [Haiwah] Narrated to us [Abu 'Aqil] from [his uncle's son] from [Uqbah Bin Amir] that he went out with the Prophet sallallaahu 'alaihi wasallam in the battle of Tabuk, then one day the Rasulullah shallallahu 'alaihi wasallam sat telling his companions, he said: "Whoever wakes up when the sun rises then perform ablution and complete his ablution, then perform two rak'ahs of prayer, then his mistakes will be forgiven as when his mother gave birth to him." Uqbah Bin Amir said; "Al hamdulillah (all praise belongs to Allah) who has given me sustenance so that I can hear this from Rasulullah shallallahu 'alaihi wasallam, then [Umar Bin Al Khaththab] said to me and he sat in front of me; "Are you amazed by this, even though Rasulullah shallallahu 'alaihi wasallam had said something more amazing than this before you came," I asked; "What is it, for the sake of my father and mother I am willing to be ransom?" So Umar answered; "The Messenger of Allah sallallaahu 'alaihi wasallam said: "Whoever performs ablution and completes his ablution, then raises his gaze to the sky while reciting; "Ashhadu Anlaa Ilaaha Illallaahu Wahdahulaa Syariikalahu Wa asyhadu Anna Muhammadan 'Abduhu Warasuuluhu (I bear witness that there is no god worthy of worship except Allah Almighty, who is not there are allies for Him, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and messenger), then the eight gates of Paradise will be opened for him and he will enter through whichever gate he wishes.

حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ دَاوُدَ يَعْنِي أَبَا دَاوُدَ الطَّيَالِسِيَّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ عَنْ دَاوُدَ الْأَوْدِيِّ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْمُسْلِيِّ عَنِ الْأَشْعَثِ بْنِ قَيْسٍ قَالَ ضِفْتُ عُمَرَ فَتَنَاوَلَ امْرَأَتَهُ فَضَرَبَهَا وَقَالَ يَا أَشْعَثُ احْفَظْ عَنِّي ثَلَاثًا حَفِظْتُهُنَّ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَا تَسْأَلْ الرَّجُلَ فِيمَ ضَرَبَ امْرَأَتَهُ وَلَا تَنَمْ إِلَّا عَلَى وَتْرٍ وَنَسِيتُ الثَّالِثَةَ
Narrated to us [Sulaiman Bin Daud i.e. Abu Daud Ath Thayalisi] he said; Narrated to us [Abu 'Awanah] from [Daud Al 'Audi] from [Abdurrahman As Sulami] From [Ash'ats Bin Qais] he said; I visited [Umar] then he grabbed his wife and hit her and he said; "O Ash'ats guard me from three things that I have memorized from the Messenger of Allah shallallahu 'alaihi wasallam "Do not ask a man about the matter why he hit his wife, do not sleep except after performing the witr prayer" and I forgot the third thing.

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ يَعْنِي الرِّشْكَ عَنْ مُعَاذَةَ عَنْ أُمِّ عَمْرٍو ابْنَةِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ أَنَّهَا سَمِعَتْ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ الزُّبَيْرِ يَقُولُ سَمِعَتْ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ يَقُولُ فِي خُطْبَتِهِ إِنَّهُ سَمِعَ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ مَنْ يَلْبَسْ الْحَرِيرَ فِي الدُّنْيَا فَلَا يُكْسَاهُ فِي الْآخِرَةِ
Narrated to us [Abdush Shamad] Narrated to us [my father] Narrated to us [Yazid i.e. Ar Risyk] from [Mu'adzah] from [Ummu 'Amru, Abdullah's daughter] that he once heard [Abdullah Bin Zubair] say; I heard [Umar Bin Al Khaththab] say in his sermon; that he heard the Messenger of Allah say: "Whoever wears silk clothing in this world will not wear silk clothing on him in the afterlife.

حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ عَنْ جَابِرٍ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ لَيَسِيرَنَّ الرَّاكِبُ فِي جَنَبَاتِ الْمَدِينَةِ ثُمَّ لَيَقُولُ لَقَدْ كَانَ فِي هَذَا حَاضِرٌ مِنْ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ كَثِيرٌ قَالَ أَبِي أَحْمَدُ بْنُ حَنْبَلٍ وَلَمْ يَجُزْ بِهِ حَسَنٌ الْأَشْيَبُ جَابِرًا
Narrated to us [Yahya Bin Ishaq] Narrated to us [Ibn Lahi'ah] from [Abu Az Zubair] from [Jabir] he said; has informed me [Umar Bin Al Khaththab], he said; I heard the Prophet sallallaahu 'alaihi wasallam say: "Indeed there will be a rider who walks on the outskirts of Medina and says: 'There used to be many believers living here." Abdullah said; My father Ahmad Bin Hambal said; "and Hasan Al Asy-yab did not give a diploma with this hadith to Jabir.

حَدَّثَنَا هَارُونُ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ حَدَّثَنِي عَمْرُو بْنُ الْحَارِثِ أَنَّ عُمَرَ بْنَ السَّائِبِ حَدَّثَهُ أَنَّ الْقَاسِمَ بْنَ أَبِي الْقَاسِمِ السَّبَئِيَّ حَدَّثَهُ عَنْ قَاصِّ الْأَجْنَادِ بِالْقُسْطَنْطِينِيَّةِ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَهُ يُحَدِّثُ أَنَّ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ إِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ مَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ فَلَا يَقْعُدَنَّ عَلَى مَائِدَةٍ يُدَارُ عَلَيْهَا بِالْخَمْرِ وَمَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ فَلَا يَدْخُلْ الْحَمَّامَ إِلَّا بِإِزَارٍ وَمَنْ كَانَتْ تُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ فَلَا تَدْخُلْ الْحَمَّامَ
Narrated to us [Harun] Narrated to us [Ibn Wahab] Has told me ['Amru Bin Al Harith] that [Umar Bin As Sa`ib] has told him, that [Al Qasim Bin Abul Qasim As Saba`i] has told him from [Qaas Al Ajnad] in Constantinople (Turkey), that he has heard him tell, that [Umar Bin Al Khaththab] said; O people, indeed I heard the Messenger of Allah sallallaahu 'alaihi wasallam say: "Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, let him not sit at a banquet surrounded by alcohol, and whoever is a man who believes in Allah and the Last Day, let him not enter the (public) bathroom unless wearing a sarong (clothing), and whoever is a woman who believes in Allah and the Last Day, do not enter the (public) bathroom.
