حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى وَابْنُ بَشَّارٍ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ قَتَادَةَ يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ أَنَسٍ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ثَلَاثٌ مَنْ كُنَّ فِيهِ وَجَدَ طَعْمَ الْإِيمَانِ مَنْ كَانَ يُحِبُّ الْمَرْءَ لَا يُحِبُّهُ إِلَّا لِلَّهِ وَمَنْ كَانَ اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَحَبَّ إِلَيْهِ مِمَّا سِوَاهُمَا وَمَنْ كَانَ أَنْ يُلْقَى فِي النَّارِ أَحَبَّ إِلَيْهِ مِنْ أَنْ يَرْجِعَ فِي الْكُفْرِ بَعْدَ أَنْ أَنْقَذَهُ اللَّهُ مِنْهُ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَقُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ أَنْبَأَنَا النَّضْرُ بْنُ شُمَيْلٍ أَنْبَأَنَا حَمَّادٌ عَنْ ثَابِتٍ عَنْ أَنَسٍ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِنَحْوِ حَدِيثِهِمْ غَيْرَ أَنَّهُ قَالَ مِنْ أَنْ يَرْجِعَ يَهُودِيًّا أَوْ نَصْرَانِيًّا
Narrated to us by [Muhammad bin al-Mutsanna] and [Ibnu Basysyar] both said, "Narrated to us by [Muhammad bin Ja'far] "Narrated to us by [Syu'bah] he said, I heard [Qatadah] narrate a hadith from [Anas] he said, 'The Messenger of Allah peace be upon him said: "Three things, if they are in someone, then he will taste the sweetness of faith the one who loves another person, he does not love him except for Allah, the one for whom Allah and His Messenger are more beloved than anything else, and the one who prefers to be thrown into the fire rather than return to disbelief after Allah has saved him from it."' It was "Narrated to us by [Ishaq bin Manshur] informed us by [an-Nadlar bin Syumail] informed us by [Hammad] from [Tsabit] from [Anas] he said, 'The Messenger of Allah peace be upon him said like their hadith, except he mentioned, 'Rather than return in the state of Jewish or Christian.'

و حَدَّثَنِي زُهَيْرُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَعِيلُ ابْنُ عُلَيَّةَ ح و حَدَّثَنَا شَيْبَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَارِثِ كِلَاهُمَا عَنْ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ عَنْ أَنَسٍ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَا يُؤْمِنُ عَبْدٌ وَفِي حَدِيثِ عَبْدِ الْوَارِثِ الرَّجُلُ حَتَّى أَكُونَ أَحَبَّ إِلَيْهِ مِنْ أَهْلِهِ وَمَالِهِ وَالنَّاسِ أَجْمَعِينَ
Narrated to me by [Zuhair bin Harb] "Narrated to us by [Ismail bin Ulayyah]. (In another narration it is mentioned) And it was "Narrated to us by [Syaiban bin Abu Syaibah] "Narrated to us by [Abdul Warits] both from [Abdul Aziz] from [Anas] he said, 'The Messenger of Allah peace be upon him said: "A servant does not believe (and in the hadith of Abdul Warits 'a man') until I am more beloved to him than his family and his wealth and all people."'

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى وَابْنُ بَشَّارٍ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ قَتَادَةَ يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَا يُؤْمِنُ أَحَدُكُمْ حَتَّى أَكُونَ أَحَبَّ إِلَيْهِ مِنْ وَلَدِهِ وَوَالِدِهِ وَالنَّاسِ أَجْمَعِينَ
Narrated to us by [Muhammad bin al-Mutsanna] and [Ibnu Basysyar] both said, "Narrated to us by [Muhammad bin Ja'far] "Narrated to us by [Syu'bah] he said, I heard [Qatadah] narrate a hadith from [Anas bin Malik] he said, 'The Messenger of Allah peace be upon him said: "None of you believes until I am more beloved to him than his child, his parent, and all people."'

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى وَابْنُ بَشَّارٍ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ قَتَادَةَ يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ لَا يُؤْمِنُ أَحَدُكُمْ حَتَّى يُحِبَّ لِأَخِيهِ أَوْ قَالَ لِجَارِهِ مَا يُحِبُّ لِنَفْسِهِ
Narrated to us by [Muhammad bin al-Mutsanna] and [Ibnu Basysyar] both said, "Narrated to us by [Muhammad bin Ja'far] "Narrated to us by [Syu'bah] he said, I heard [Qatadah] narrate from [Anas bin Malik] from the Prophet peace be upon him, he said: 'None of you believes until he loves for his brother, or he said, 'for his neighbor what he loves for himself.'

و حَدَّثَنِي زُهَيْرُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ حُسَيْنٍ الْمُعَلِّمِ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ عَنْ أَنَسٍ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ وَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ لَا يُؤْمِنُ عَبْدٌ حَتَّى يُحِبَّ لِجَارِهِ أَوْ قَالَ لِأَخِيهِ مَا يُحِبُّ لِنَفْسِهِ
Narrated to us by [Zuhair bin Harb] "Narrated to us by [Yahya bin Sa'id] from [Husain al-Mu'allim] from [Qatadah] from [Anas] from the Prophet peace be upon him, he said: 'By the One in Whose hand is my soul, a servant does not believe until he loves for his neighbor, or he said, 'for his brother what he likes for himself.'

حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَيُّوبَ وَقُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ وَعَلِيُّ بْنُ حُجْرٍ جَمِيعًا عَنْ إِسْمَعِيلَ بْنِ جَعْفَرٍ قَالَ ابْنُ أَيُّوبَ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَعِيلُ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي الْعَلَاءُ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ لَا يَدْخُلُ الْجَنَّةَ مَنْ لَا يَأْمَنُ جَارُهُ بَوَائِقَهُ
Narrated to us by [Yahya bin Ayyub] and [Qutaibah bin Sa'id] as well as [Ali bin Hujr] all from [Isma'il bin Ja'far], [Ibnu Ayyub] said, "Narrated to us by [Ismail] he said, informed us by [al-Ala'] from [his father] from [Abu Hurairah] that the Messenger of Allah peace be upon him said: 'The one whose neighbor is not safe from his harm will not enter Paradise.'

حَدَّثَنِي حَرْمَلَةُ بْنُ يَحْيَى أَنْبَأَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي يُونُسُ عَنْ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ مَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ فَلْيَقُلْ خَيْرًا أَوْ لِيَصْمُتْ وَمَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ فَلْيُكْرِمْ جَارَهُ وَمَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ فَلْيُكْرِمْ ضَيْفَهُ
Narrated to us by [Harmalah bin Yahya] informed us by [Ibnu Wahab] he said, informed me by [Yunus] from [Ibnu Syihab] from [Abu Salamah bin Abdurrahman] from [Abu Hurairah] from the Messenger of Allah peace be upon him, he said: 'Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, let him speak good or remain silent. And whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, let him honor his neighbor. And whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, let him honor his guest.'

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْأَحْوَصِ عَنْ أَبِي حُصَيْنٍ عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ فَلَا يُؤْذِي جَارَهُ وَمَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ فَلْيُكْرِمْ ضَيْفَهُ وَمَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ فَلْيَقُلْ خَيْرًا أَوْ لِيَسْكُتْ و حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ أَخْبَرَنَا عِيسَى بْنُ يُونُسَ عَنْ الْأَعْمَشِ عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِمِثْلِ حَدِيثِ أَبِي حَصِينٍ غَيْرَ أَنَّهُ قَالَ فَلْيُحْسِنْ إِلَى جَارِهِ
Narrated to us by [Abu Bakar bin Abu Syaibah] "Narrated to us by [Abu al-Ahwash] from [Abu Hushain] from [Abu Shalih] from [Abu Hurairah] he said, 'The Messenger of Allah peace be upon him said, "Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, let him not harm his neighbor. And whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, let him honor his guest. And whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, let him speak good or remain silent."' And it was "Narrated to us by [Ishaq bin Ibrahim] informed us by [Isa bin Yunus] from [al-A'masy] from [Abu Shalih] from [Abu Hurairah] he said, 'The Messenger of Allah peace be upon him said like the hadith of Abu Hushain, except he mentioned, 'And let him do good to his neighbor.'

حَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ نُمَيْرٍ جَمِيعًا عَنْ ابْنِ عُيَيْنَةَ قَالَ ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ عَمْرٍو أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ نَافِعَ بْنَ جُبَيْرٍ يُخْبِرُ عَنْ أَبِي شُرَيْحٍ الْخُزَاعِيِّ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ مَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ فَلْيُحْسِنْ إِلَى جَارِهِ وَمَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ فَلْيُكْرِمْ ضَيْفَهُ وَمَنْ كَانَ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ فَلْيَقُلْ خَيْرًا أَوْ لِيَسْكُتْ
Narrated to us by [Zuhair bin Harb] and [Muhammad bin Abdullah bin Numair] all from [Ibnu Uyainah] said [Numair] "Narrated to us by [Sufyan] from [Amru] that he heard [Nafi' bin Jubair] inform from [Abu Syuraih al-Khuza'i] that the Prophet peace be upon him said: 'Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, let him do good to his neighbor. Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, let him honor his guest. And whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, let him speak good or remain silent.'

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ح و حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ كِلَاهُمَا عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ مُسْلِمٍ عَنْ طَارِقِ بْنِ شِهَابٍ وَهَذَا حَدِيثُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ قَالَ أَوَّلُ مَنْ بَدَأَ بِالْخُطْبَةِ يَوْمَ الْعِيدِ قَبْلَ الصَّلَاةِ مَرْوَانُ فَقَامَ إِلَيْهِ رَجُلٌ فَقَالَ الصَّلَاةُ قَبْلَ الْخُطْبَةِ فَقَالَ قَدْ تُرِكَ مَا هُنَالِكَ فَقَالَ أَبُو سَعِيدٍ أَمَّا هَذَا فَقَدْ قَضَى مَا عَلَيْهِ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ مَنْ رَأَى مِنْكُمْ مُنْكَرًا فَلْيُغَيِّرْهُ بِيَدِهِ فَإِنْ لَمْ يَسْتَطِعْ فَبِلِسَانِهِ فَإِنْ لَمْ يَسْتَطِعْ فَبِقَلْبِهِ وَذَلِكَ أَضْعَفُ الْإِيمَانِ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو كُرَيْبٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْعَلَاءِ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ حَدَّثَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ عَنْ إِسْمَعِيلَ بْنِ رَجَاءٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ وَعَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ مُسْلِمٍ عَنْ طَارِقِ بْنِ شِهَابٍ عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ فِي قِصَّةِ مَرْوَانَ وَحَدِيثِ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِمِثْلِ حَدِيثِ شُعْبَةَ وَسُفْيَانَ
Narrated to us by [Abu Bakar bin Abu Syaibah] "Narrated to us by [Waki'] from [Sufyan]. (In another narration it is mentioned) And it was "Narrated to us by [Muhammad bin al-Mutsanna] "Narrated to us by [Muhammad bin Ja'far] "Narrated to us by [Syu'bah] both from [Qais bin Muslim] from [Thariq bin Syihab] and this is the hadith of Abu Bakar, 'The first to give a sermon on Eid before the Eid prayer was established was Marwan. Then a man stood and said to him, "The Eid prayer should be done before reading the sermon." Marwan replied, "Indeed, what is in the sermon has been left a lot." Then [Abu Said] said, "Indeed, this man has decided (to do) as I heard from the Messenger of Allah peace be upon him, saying: "Whoever among you sees an evil, let him prevent it with his hand. If not able, let him prevent it with his tongue, if not able either, let him prevent it with his heart. That is the weakest of faith."' It was "Narrated to us by [Abu Kuraib Muhammad bin al-Ala'] "Narrated to us by [Abu Mua'wiyah] "Narrated to us by [al-A'masy] from [Ismail bin Raja'] from [his father] from [Abu Sa'id al-Khudri] from [Qais bin Muslim] from [Thariq bin Syihab] from [Abu Sa'id al-Khudri] in the story of Marwan, and the hadith of Abu Sa'id from the Prophet peace be upon him, like the hadith of Syu'bah and Sufyan.'

حَدَّثَنِي عَمْرٌو النَّاقِدُ وَأَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ النَّضْرِ وَعَبْدُ بْنُ حُمَيْدٍ وَاللَّفْظُ لِعَبْدٍ قَالُوا حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ سَعْدٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي عَنْ صَالِحِ بْنِ كَيْسَانَ عَنْ الْحَارِثِ عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الْحَكَمِ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ الْمِسْوَرِ عَنْ أَبِي رَافِعٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ مَا مِنْ نَبِيٍّ بَعَثَهُ اللَّهُ فِي أُمَّةٍ قَبْلِي إِلَّا كَانَ لَهُ مِنْ أُمَّتِهِ حَوَارِيُّونَ وَأَصْحَابٌ يَأْخُذُونَ بِسُنَّتِهِ وَيَقْتَدُونَ بِأَمْرِهِ ثُمَّ إِنَّهَا تَخْلُفُ مِنْ بَعْدِهِمْ خُلُوفٌ يَقُولُونَ مَا لَا يَفْعَلُونَ وَيَفْعَلُونَ مَا لَا يُؤْمَرُونَ فَمَنْ جَاهَدَهُمْ بِيَدِهِ فَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ وَمَنْ جَاهَدَهُمْ بِلِسَانِهِ فَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ وَمَنْ جَاهَدَهُمْ بِقَلْبِهِ فَهُوَ مُؤْمِنٌ وَلَيْسَ وَرَاءَ ذَلِكَ مِنْ الْإِيمَانِ حَبَّةُ خَرْدَلٍ قَالَ أَبُو رَافِعٍ فَحَدَّثْتُ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عُمَرَ فَأَنْكَرَهُ عَلَيَّ فَقَدِمَ ابْنُ مَسْعُودٍ فَنَزَلَ بِقَنَاةَ فَاسْتَتْبَعَنِي إِلَيْهِ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ يَعُودُهُ فَانْطَلَقْتُ مَعَهُ فَلَمَّا جَلَسْنَا سَأَلْتُ ابْنَ مَسْعُودٍ عَنْ هَذَا الْحَدِيثِ فَحَدَّثَنِيهِ كَمَا حَدَّثْتُهُ ابْنَ عُمَرَ قَالَ صَالِحٌ وَقَدْ تُحُدِّثَ بِنَحْوِ ذَلِكَ عَنْ أَبِي رَافِعٍ و حَدَّثَنِيهِ أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ إِسْحَقَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي الْحَارِثُ بْنُ الْفُضَيْلِ الْخَطْمِيُّ عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الْحَكَمِ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ الْمِسْوَرِ بْنِ مَخْرَمَةَ عَنْ أَبِي رَافِعٍ مَوْلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ مَا كَانَ مِنْ نَبِيٍّ إِلَّا وَقَدْ كَانَ لَهُ حَوَارِيُّونَ يَهْتَدُونَ بِهَدْيِهِ وَيَسْتَنُّونَ بِسُنَّتِهِ مِثْلَ حَدِيثِ صَالِحٍ وَلَمْ يَذْكُرْ قُدُومَ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ وَاجْتِمَاعِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ مَعَهُ
Narrated to us by [Amru an-Naqid] and [Abu Bakar bin an-Nadlr] as well as [Abd bin Humaid] and the wording is that of Abd. They said, "Narrated to us by [Ya'qub bin Ibrahim bin Sa'd] he said, "Narrated to us by [his father] from [Shalih bin Kaisan] from [al-Harits] from [Ja'far bin Abdullah bin al-Hakam] from [Abdurrahman bin al-Miswar] from [Abu Rafi'] from [Abdullah bin Mas'ud] that the Messenger of Allah peace be upon him said: 'There is no prophet sent by Allah to a nation before him except he has defenders and companions who hold fast to the sunnahs and follow his commands, then come after them a people who say something they do not do, and do something not commanded. Whoever strives against them with his hand is a believer, whoever strives against them with his tongue is a believer, whoever strives against them with his heart is a believer, and after that there is no faith even the size of a mustard seed.' Abu Rafi' said, 'Then I "Narrated to Abdullah bin Umar, but he denied me. When Ibn Mas'ud came and stayed at Qanah, Abdullah bin Umar followed me inviting me to follow Ibn Mas'ud, so when we sat, I asked Ibn Mas'ud about this hadith, so he "Narrated the hadith to me as I "Narrated it to Ibn Umar.' Shalih said, 'Indeed, it was "Narrated like that from Abu Rafi'.' And it was "Narrated to us by [Abu Bakar bin Ishaq bin Muhammad] informed us by [Ibnu Abu Maryam] "Narrated to us by [Abdul Aziz bin Muhammad] he said, informed me by [al-Harits bin al-Fudlail al-Hathmi] from [Ja'far bin Abdullah bin al-Hakam] from [Abdurrahman bin Miswar bin Makhramah] from [Abu Rafi'] the former slave of the Prophet peace be upon him, from [Abdullah bin Mas'ud] that the Messenger of Allah peace be upon him said: 'There is no Prophet except he has defenders who seek guidance with his guidance, and take sunnah with his sunnah,' like the hadith of Shalih, but he did not mention the arrival of Ibn Mas'ud and the gathering of Ibn Umar with him.'

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ ح و حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ح و حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو كُرَيْبٍ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ إِدْرِيسَ كُلُّهُمْ عَنْ إِسْمَعِيلَ بْنِ أَبِي خَالِدٍ ح و حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ حَبِيبٍ الْحَارِثِيُّ وَاللَّفْظُ لَهُ حَدَّثَنَا مُعْتَمِرٌ عَنْ إِسْمَعِيلَ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ قَيْسًا يَرْوِي عَنْ أَبِي مَسْعُودٍ قَالَ أَشَارَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِيَدِهِ نَحْوَ الْيَمَنِ فَقَالَ أَلَا إِنَّ الْإِيمَانَ هَهُنَا وَإِنَّ الْقَسْوَةَ وَغِلَظَ الْقُلُوبِ فِي الْفَدَّادِينَ عِنْدَ أُصُولِ أَذْنَابِ الْإِبِلِ حَيْثُ يَطْلُعُ قَرْنَا الشَّيْطَانِ فِي رَبِيعَةَ وَمُضَرَ
Narrated to us by [Abu Bakar bin Abu Syaibah] "Narrated to us by [Abu Usamah]. (In another narration it is mentioned) And it was "Narrated to us by [Ibnu Numair] "Narrated to us by [his father]. (In another narration it is mentioned) And it was "Narrated to us by [Abu Kuraib] "Narrated to us by [Ibnu Idris] all from [Ismail bin Abu Khalid]. (In another narration it is mentioned) And it was "Narrated to us by [Yahya bin Habib al-Haritsi] and the wording is his, "Narrated to us by [Mu'tamir] from [Ismail] he said, I heard [Qais] narrate from [Abu Mas'ud] he said, 'The Prophet peace be upon him gestured with his hand towards Yemen, saying: "Remember, indeed faith is here (Yemen), while hardness and rigidity of heart are in the shepherds who shout loudly near the base of the camel's tail when a pair of devil's horns appear among the Bani Rabi'ah and Bani Mudlar."'

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الرَّبِيعِ الزَّهْرَانِيُّ أَنْبَأَنَا حَمَّادٌ حَدَّثَنَا أَيُّوبُ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدٌ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ جَاءَ أَهْلُ الْيَمَنِ هُمْ أَرَقُّ أَفْئِدَةً الْإِيمَانُ يَمَانٍ وَالْفِقْهُ يَمَانٍ وَالْحِكْمَةُ يَمَانِيَةٌ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي عَدِيٍّ ح و حَدَّثَنِي عَمْرٌو النَّاقِدُ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَقُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ الْأَزْرَقُ كِلَاهُمَا عَنْ ابْنِ عَوْنٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِمِثْلِهِ
Narrated to us by [Abu ar-Rabi' az-Zahrani] informed us by [Hammad] "Narrated to us by [Ayyub] "Narrated to us by [Muhammad] from [Abu Hurairah] he said, 'The Messenger of Allah peace be upon him said: "The people of Yemen have come, they are the people with the softest hearts. Faith is in the Yemenis. Fiqh is also in the Yemenis. Wisdom is also in the Yemenis."' It was "Narrated to us by [Muhammad bin al-Mutsanna] "Narrated to us by [Ibnu Abu Adi]. (In another narration it is mentioned) And it was "Narrated to us by [Amru an-Naqid] "Narrated to us by [Ishaq bin Yusuf al-Azraq] both from [Ibnu Aun] from [Muhammad] from [Abu Hurairah] he said, 'The Messenger of Allah peace be upon him said like that hadith.'

و حَدَّثَنِي عَمْرٌو النَّاقِدُ وَحَسَنٌ الْحُلْوَانِيُّ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ وَهُوَ ابْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ سَعْدٍ حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي عَنْ صَالِحٍ عَنْ الْأَعْرَجِ قَالَ قَالَ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَتَاكُمْ أَهْلُ الْيَمَنِ هُمْ أَضْعَفُ قُلُوبًا وَأَرَقُّ أَفْئِدَةً الْفِقْهُ يَمَانٍ وَالْحِكْمَةُ يَمَانِيَةٌ
Narrated to us by [Amru an-Naqid] and [Hasan al-Hulwani] both said, "Narrated to us by [Ya'qub] -that is Ibn Ibrahim bin Sa'd- "Narrated to us by [his father] from [Shalih] from [al-A'raj] he said, [Abu Hurairah] said 'The Messenger of Allah peace be upon him said: "The people of Yemen have come, they are the people with the softest hearts. Fiqh is in the Yemenis. Wisdom is also in the Yemenis."'

حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ يَحْيَى قَالَ قَرَأْتُ عَلَى مَالِكٍ عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ عَنْ الْأَعْرَجِ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ رَأْسُ الْكُفْرِ نَحْوَ الْمَشْرِقِ وَالْفَخْرُ وَالْخُيَلَاءُ فِي أَهْلِ الْخَيْلِ وَالْإِبِلِ الْفَدَّادِينَ أَهْلِ الْوَبَرِ وَالسَّكِينَةُ فِي أَهْلِ الْغَنَمِ
Narrated to us by [Yahya bin Yahya] he said, I read it before [Malik] from [Abu az-Zinad] from [al-A'raj] from [Abu Hurairah] that the Messenger of Allah peace be upon him said, 'The peak of disbelief is towards the east (the area of the Magians), and pride and arrogance are in the owners of horses and camels who herd, namely the Bedouins, while tranquility is in the shepherds of goats (meaning the people of Yemen).'

و حَدَّثَنِي يَحْيَى بْنُ أَيُّوبَ وَقُتَيْبَةُ وَابْنُ حُجْرٍ عَنْ إِسْمَعِيلَ بْنِ جَعْفَرٍ قَالَ ابْنُ أَيُّوبَ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَعِيلُ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي الْعَلَاءُ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ الْإِيمَانُ يَمَانٍ وَالْكُفْرُ قِبَلَ الْمَشْرِقِ وَالسَّكِينَةُ فِي أَهْلِ الْغَنَمِ وَالْفَخْرُ وَالرِّيَاءُ فِي الْفَدَّادِينَ أَهْلِ الْخَيْلِ وَالْوَبَرِ
Narrated to us by [Yahya bin Ayyub] and [Qutaibah] as well as [Ibnu Hujr] from [Ismail bin Ja'far] said [Ibnu Ayyub] "Narrated to us by [Ismail] he said, informed me by [al-Ala'] from [his father] from [Abu Hurairah] that the Messenger of Allah peace be upon him said: 'Faith is in Yemen, disbelief is towards the east (meaning the Magians), tranquility is in the shepherds of goats (meaning the people of Yemen), and pride and hypocrisy are in those who shout loudly the herders of horses and camels (the Bedouins).'

و حَدَّثَنِي حَرْمَلَةُ بْنُ يَحْيَى أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي يُونُسُ عَنْ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو سَلَمَةَ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ أَنَّ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ الْفَخْرُ وَالْخُيَلَاءُ فِي الْفَدَّادِينَ أَهْلِ الْوَبَرِ وَالسَّكِينَةُ فِي أَهْلِ الْغَنَمِ و حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الدَّارِمِيُّ أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْيَمَانِ أَخْبَرَنَا شُعَيْبٌ عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ بِهَذَا الْإِسْنَادِ مِثْلَهُ وَزَادَ الْإِيمَانُ يَمَانٍ وَالْحِكْمَةُ يَمَانِيَةٌ
Narrated to us by [Harmalah bin Yahya] informed us by [Ibnu Wahab] he said, informed me by [Yunus] from [Ibnu Syihab] he said, informed me by [Abu Salamah bin Abdurrahman] that [Abu Hurairah] said, 'I heard the Messenger of Allah peace be upon him say: "Pride and arrogance are in the herding people, namely the Bedouins, while tranquility is in the shepherds of goats (meaning the people of Yemen)."' And it was "Narrated to us by [Abdullah bin Abdurrahman ad-Darimi] informed us by [Abu al-Yaman] informed us by [Syu'aib] from [az-Zuhri] with this chain similar to it, and he added, 'Faith is in the Yemenis, and wisdom in the Yemenis.'

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْيَمَانِ عَنْ شُعَيْبٍ عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ حَدَّثَنِي سَعِيدُ بْنُ الْمُسَيَّبِ أَنَّ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ جَاءَ أَهْلُ الْيَمَنِ هُمْ أَرَقُّ أَفْئِدَةً وَأَضْعَفُ قُلُوبًا الْإِيمَانُ يَمَانٍ وَالْحِكْمَةُ يَمَانِيَةٌ السَّكِينَةُ فِي أَهْلِ الْيَمَنِ وَالْفَخْرُ وَالْخُيَلَاءُ فِي الْفَدَّادِينَ أَهْلِ الْوَبَرِ قِبَلَ مَطْلِعِ الشَّمْسِ
Narrated to us by [Abdullah bin Abdurrahman] informed us by [Abu al-Yaman] from [Syu'aib] from [az-Zuhri] "Narrated to us by [Sa'id bin al-Musayyab] that [Abu Hurairah] said, 'I heard the Prophet peace be upon him say: "The people of Yemen have come, they are the people with the softest hearts, and the weakest hearts. Faith is in the Yemenis, wisdom in the Yemenis and tranquility is in the Yemenis. While pride and arrogance are in the herders, the Bedouins, namely towards the rising of the sun."'

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ وَأَبُو كُرَيْبٍ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ عَنْ الْأَعْمَشِ عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَتَاكُمْ أَهْلُ الْيَمَنِ هُمْ أَلْيَنُ قُلُوبًا وَأَرَقُّ أَفْئِدَةً الْإِيمَانُ يَمَانٍ وَالْحِكْمَةُ يَمَانِيَةٌ رَأْسُ الْكُفْرِ قِبَلَ الْمَشْرِقِ و حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ وَزُهَيْرُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرٌ عَنْ الْأَعْمَشِ بِهَذَا الْإِسْنَادِ وَلَمْ يَذْكُرْ رَأْسُ الْكُفْرِ قِبَلَ الْمَشْرِقِ و حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي عَدِيٍّ ح و حَدَّثَنِي بِشْرُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ جَعْفَرٍ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ الْأَعْمَشِ بِهَذَا الْإِسْنَادِ مِثْلَ حَدِيثِ جَرِيرٍ وَزَادَ وَالْفَخْرُ وَالْخُيَلَاءُ فِي أَصْحَابِ الْإِبِلِ وَالسَّكِينَةُ وَالْوَقَارُ فِي أَصْحَابِ الشَّاءِ
Narrated to us by [Abu Bakar bin Abu Syaibah] and [Abu Kuraib] both said, "Narrated to us by [Abu Mu'awiyah] from [al-A'masy] from [Abu Shalih] from [Abu Hurairah] he said, 'The Messenger of Allah peace be upon him said: "The people of Yemen have come to you, they are the people with the most delicate hearts, and the softest hearts. Faith is in the Yemenis and wisdom is in the Yemenis, while the root of disbelief is towards the east (the Magians)."' And it was "Narrated to us by [Qutaibah bin Sa'id] and [Zuhair bin Harb] both said, "Narrated to us by [Jarir] from [al-A'masy] with this chain, and he did not mention, 'The root of disbelief is towards the east.' And it was "Narrated to us by [Muhammad bin al-Mutsanna] "Narrated to us by [Ibnu Abu Adi]. (In another narration it is mentioned) And it was "Narrated to us by [Bisyr bin Khalid] "Narrated to us by [Muhammad] -that is Ibn Ja'far- both said, "Narrated to us by [Syu'bah] from [al-A'masy] with this chain like the hadith of Jarir, and he added, 'Pride and arrogance are in the camel herders, while tranquility is in the goat herders.'

و حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ الْمَخْزُومِيُّ عَنْ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ يَقُولُا قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ غِلَظُ الْقُلُوبِ وَالْجَفَاءُ فِي الْمَشْرِقِ وَالْإِيمَانُ فِي أَهْلِ الْحِجَازِ
Narrated to us by [Ishaq bin Ibrahim] informed us by [Abdullah bin al-Harits al-Makhzumi] from [Ibnu Juraij] he said, informed us by [Abu az-Zubair] that he heard [Jabir bin Abdullah] say, 'The Messenger of Allah peace be upon him said: "The hardness and dryness of the heart is in the Easterners, while faith is in the people of Hijaz."'
