And Ahmad bin Ibrahim ad-Dauraqi narrated to us, who said that Mubasysyir bin Ismail narrated to us from al-Auza'i from Umair bin Hani' with a similar chain, except that he said, 'Allah will admit him according to his deeds' without mentioning, 'he enters through any of the eight gates of Paradise that he wishes.'

Qutaibah bin Sa'id narrated to us, who said that Laith narrated to us from Ibn Ajlan from Muhammad bin Yahya bin Habban from Ibn Muhairiz from ash-Shunabihi from Ubadah bin ash-Shamit, he said, 'When I visited him while he was sick, I wept.' So he said, 'Stop, why are you crying? By Allah, if I die as a martyr, then I will bear witness for you, and if I am given intercession, I will intercede for you, and if I am able, I will benefit you.' Then he said, 'By Allah, there is no hadith that I heard from the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) for you in which there is good, except that I have surely narrated it to you, except for one hadith, and I will narrate it to you today. And I have indeed taken that to heart. I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) say: 'Whoever bears witness that there is no god (worthy of worship) but Allah, and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, then Allah will forbid Hell for him.'

He called out: 'O Mu'adh bin Jabal!' I replied, 'I am at your service, O Messenger of Allah.' We continued our journey. Then he called again: 'O Mu'adh bin Jabal!' He said: 'Do you know the obligation of people to Allah?' I replied, 'Allah and His Messenger know best.' He said: 'It is to worship Him and not associate anything with Him.' We continued our journey for a while, then he called again: 'O Mu'adh bin Jabal!' I replied, 'I am at your service, O Messenger of Allah.' The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: 'Do you know what is the obligation of Allah to people if they do the things that I stated just now?' I replied, 'Allah and His Messenger know best.' Finally, he said: 'Allah will not punish them.'

He then said: 'O Mu'adh, do you know what the right of Allah is upon His servants and the right of the servants is upon Allah?' Mu'adh said, 'I then replied, 'Allah and His Messenger know best.' He said: 'Indeed, the right of Allah upon the servants is that you worship Allah and do not associate anything with Him, and the right of the servants upon Allah is that He does not punish anyone who does not associate anything with Him.' Mu'adh said, 'I then said, 'O Messenger of Allah, may I not inform the people about this?' He replied: 'Do not inform them so that they do not rely on it.'

Zuhayr bin Harb narrated to us, who said that Umar bin Yunus al-Hanafi narrated to us, who said that Ikrimah bin Ammar narrated to us, he said that Abu Katsir narrated to us, he said that Abu Hurayrah narrated to us, he said, 'During a battle, we were sitting around the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), and with us were Abu Bakar and Umar. Then he got up and left us and was late in returning, so much so that we were worried that he had been captured by the enemy or had a mishap. We were all very worried, and the one most worried about him was me. So I stood up and went out to look for the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) until I reached a garden belonging to the Ansar from Bani Najjar. I went around it hoping to find an entrance, but I did not. And it turned out there was a stream of water from outside the garden that entered from a corner of the garden. So I tried to enter just as a fox would try to enter through a narrow hole. And I found the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him). He called out: 'Abu Hurayrah!' I replied, 'Yes, O Messenger of Allah.' 'What's wrong?' he asked. I replied, 'It's like this, O Messenger, you were with us earlier, then you suddenly left us and were gone for a long time until we were very worried about your safety, especially me, O Messenger. So I tried to enter this garden from a very narrow hole like a fox, and they (the other companions) are behind me.' While saying this, he gave me his two sandals: 'O Abu Hurayrah, take these two sandals of mine, and whoever you meet behind this garden who testifies that there is no god (worthy of worship) but Allah and has this belief firmly in his heart, then give him the good news of Paradise.' And by chance, the first person I met was Umar, so he asked, 'What's with those two sandals, O Abu Hurayrah?' I replied, 'These are the two sandals of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), he commanded me to take them and to give the good news of Paradise to the first person I meet who testifies that there is no god (worthy of worship) but Allah, and he believes it with his heart.' So Umar hit me with his hand right in the middle of my chest (solar plexus) until I fell to a sitting position, then he said, 'Go back, O Abu Hurayrah!' So I returned to the Messenger of Allah with a face holding back tears, and it turned out that Umar was also following me. At that moment, the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) asked: 'What is wrong with you, O Abu Hurayrah?' I replied, 'I met Umar, and I told him about what you commanded me to do, but he suddenly hit me hard in the solar plexus until I fell limp, after that he said, 'Go back!' So the Messenger said: 'O Umar, why did you do that?' Umar replied, 'O Messenger of Allah, is it true that you sent Abu Hurayrah with those two sandals of yours and commanded him to give the good news of Paradise to the first person he met who testifies that there is no god (worthy of worship) but Allah with firm conviction in his heart?' He replied: 'Yes, that is true.' Umar said, 'You should not do that, O Messenger of Allah, because I am very worried that people will rely on it, and let them perform good deeds.' The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said (to Abu Hurayrah): 'Let them be (not knowing this hadith).'

Mu'adh replied, 'I am at your service, O Messenger of Allah.' The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) called out again: 'O Mu'adh!' I replied again, 'I am at your service, O Messenger of Allah.' The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) called out: 'O Mu'adh!' I replied again, 'I am at your service, O Messenger of Allah.' The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) then said: 'Whoever says the Two Testimonies of Faith, that there is no god (worthy of worship) but Allah and that Muhammad is His servant and messenger, will surely be saved from the fire of Hell.' Then Mu'adh said, 'May I inform the people about this so that they can spread this good news?' The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: 'If you do that, then they will rely on it.' So Mu'adh spread the news before his death for fear of incurring sin (by concealing the hadith).

Syaiban bin Farrukh narrated to us, who said that Sulayman, that is Ibn al-Mughirah, narrated to us, he said that Tsabit narrated to us from Anas bin Malik, he said that Mahmud bin ar-Rabi' narrated to us from Itban bin Malik, he said, 'I came to Madinah, and I met Itban. Then I asked him to narrate a hadith.' He said, 'My eyes were afflicted with a certain disease that caused some things, so I sent a messenger to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) who said that I hoped for his arrival to perform prayer with me in my house, so that I could make it a place of prayer.' Itban said again, 'So the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) arrived along with the companions who wanted to come, and he entered the house. He performed the prayer, while the companions were still talking among themselves, where some of them talked about the hypocrisy of Malik bin Dukhsyum. The companions said, they hoped that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) would pray against Malik bin Dukhsyum so that he would be afflicted with misfortune. They also wanted him to be afflicted with a calamity. After the prayer, he asked: 'Has he not said the Two Testimonies of Faith, that there is no god (worthy of worship) but Allah and that I am the Messenger of Allah?' The companions replied, 'He said it only with his mouth but not with his heart.' He said: 'No one who says that there is no god (worthy of worship) but Allah and that I am the Messenger of Allah will enter Hell, or taste it.' Anas said, 'This hadith amazed me. So I said to my son, 'Write this hadith,' and he wrote it.' Abu Bakar bin Nafi' al-Abdi narrated to us, who said that Bahz narrated to us, who said that Hammad narrated to us from Tsabit from Anas, he said that Itban bin Malik narrated to us that he was blind, so he sent a messenger to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) and said, 'Please come here (O Messenger of Allah), so that it can be a place of prayer for me.' So the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) came with his companions, and then the bad character of a man among them called Malik bin ad-Dukhsyum was mentioned... then he mentioned a hadith similar to the hadith of Sulayman bin al-Mughirah.
