حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ عَمَّارٍ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ مُحَمَّدٌ الصَّنْعَانِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَلَمَةَ الْعَامِلِيُّ عَنْ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍأَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ لِأَكْثَمَ بْنِ الْجَوْنِ الْخُزَاعِيِّ يَا أَكْثَمُ اغْزُ مَعَ غَيْرِ قَوْمِكَ يَحْسُنْ خُلُقُكَ وَتَكْرُمْ عَلَى رُفَقَائِكَ يَا أَكْثَمُ خَيْرُ الرُّفَقَاءِ أَرْبَعَةٌ وَخَيْرُ السَّرَايَا أَرْبَعُ مِائَةٍ وَخَيْرُ الْجُيُوشِ أَرْبَعَةُ آلَافٍ وَلَنْ يُغْلَبَ اثْنَا عَشَرَ أَلْفًا مِنْ قِلَّةٍ

Narrated by [Harmalah bin Yahya Al Mishri], narrated by [Abdullah bin Wahab], narrated by [Yazid bin Abu Shan'ani], narrated by [Abu Salamah Al 'Amili] from [Ibnu Syihab] from [Anas bin Malik], that the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, said to Aktsam bin Al Jaun Al Khuza'i: 'O Aktsam, fight alongside others than your people, and your character will improve, and you will honor your companions. O Aktsam, the best companions are four, the best detachment is four hundred, the best army is four thousand, and twelve thousand will never be defeated for being few.'
